Hi everyone :)

Had a near critical day today but I'm feeling better and so was doing a bit of surfing, trying to gee myself up for our soon-to-be trip the Spain in the MoHo, when I came across this site selling Omit Bug Vents. A pair to fit a Fiat 2006 onwards is....wait for it.....£99  I know everyone has to make money and I have no gripe with that at all but these are just two pieces of moulded plastic with some mesh (or that's what it looks like, anyway). OK, so someone may have paid for a patent on them, testing house fees etc etc., but still, is anyone going to buy them at that price? Has anyone here bought them? If so, are they really worth the high cost? Just wondering as I'm trying to keep my mind busy right now and glad I have you guys to 'chat' with :)

Are you a cheapskate then, HKF ……..?? ;) ;)

Just look at the quality of the moulding…….
I bet one of our ‘3d Printer’ operatives could make them for you…..??

edit:- Any suggestions, Funsters….?

Crikey, they sound very expensive for a bit of plastic. Reading through the info, they don't sound as though they would last very long either.

Hope you feel better soon HKF sending you a hug :hugs:

I was thinking that myself :)

We're actually in Spain right now (near Alcaniz) but in a standard van. Then we're back to in early December (Platja D'Aro in the car) for a week's holiday in a hotel. Then we hope to get here again over Christmas and New Year in the MoHo!!!! :)

I'm feeling much better, thank you. It's helped to be able to connect with you guys. I feel positive now....a far cry from earlier today x

£99 for a pair of those bug vents seems an OK price to me. They are way too big to 3D print in one piece and would cost more, and to be honest not be as good as the ones in that link. 3D printing has some limits, and the major one is size. 210x210x250mm being max size of my printers.

I think you wouldn’t want them. I assume they fit in the cab windows but you should have enough ventilation in your MH
without leaving the cab windows open. I wouldn’t trust them for security at night or when leaving the van and you cannot drive with them in. Then you have to find somewhere to store them where the fine mesh won’t get torn or the plastic broken.
Don’t do it !

I agree with all your points :) And, at that price, I'd never consider them. Perhaps if they were £9.99 I might've been tempted but I'm definitely not paying anywhere near £99 :)

You need one of these big boys !

I think I would need a bigger house, and a bigger pocket. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪

£99 seems reasonable to me.
They had to have the plastic moulding tools made, and the market will be fairly small.
Then the production costs, these won't be produced in massive 10s of thousands run so a factory has to swap in the tooling and do a small run. That is not going to be cheap.

I wanted ventilation in the cab for the massive dog we have, so brought a set of these. I don’t travel with them in and, once the window is closed tight on them, are very secure. I suppose they could be incorporated with a mess.

Dog loves the fresh air too 👍🏻

I have them. They're tough, secure, and keep even Highland Midgies out. I use them behind internal silver screens in the coldest and wettest of weather no problem. Well pleased.
