Olivers Mount

Nice to see racing coming back to the Mount but the deaths were not the reason for the cancellation of racing..
Oliver Mount is a narrow, winding, hilly, heavily wooded circuit which has claimed many lives over the years but racing has never been cancelled before.

AUTO66, the local club responsible for organising the meetings could not/would not fund the necessary updated safety measures required by the ACU and because of this their insurers rejected their renewal.
Because of this Scarborough Borough Council pulled the plug.
Peter Hillaby, chairman of the AUTO66 decided to call it a day on Oliver Mount.
It was rumoured the organisers of the Ulster GP had offered a Loan of temporary safety barriers and equipment need to stage the last race but it was left too late by AUTO66 to organise logistics and insurance so that race and all subsequent racing was cancelled.

Good luck to the new organisers.
