Offside habitation door?

As we enter our second year as "newbie" motorhomers and having tried a Bentley (great build quality but got fed up with converting the lounge every night) and a Bailey 540 (dropdown bed seemed a better idea but the rattles drive me nuts) we are now going to upgrade to a fixed bed Moho. However, the lack of units on the second hand market is leading me to look at continental builds with the habitation door on the "wrong" side. Grateful for any feedback from fellow Funsters on the pros and cons of a "cack-handed" unit in the UK?
 
Didn't really think about until 2 years into ownership and it was mentioned in a post. This post has just reminded me about it again after nearly 4 years. I may wonder about it again in a couple of years but never mentioned by anybody in-between times and never a problem so worry about something else instead 😂

The only possible problem is if you park on a busy road with passenger door on the kerbside, which would be the normal direction to park, then you will be stepping out if the hab door into the traffic.

A small inconvenience that I rarely come across.

I don't tend to stop on the long 20 mile journey to the Newhaven ferry. :rofl:

Club sites can get sniffy. We used to park nose in which sometimes worked for a view but sometimes didn’t.
We are going back to a UK spec Moho as we spend a lot of time on UK sites.

It's strange but that actually works better for us due to the safest/easiest way to leave our drive and after the 'gate keeper' has done their duties they can access the moho a lot easier, we are on a 60mph country lane with ditches along the near side. It also works just as well when returning home from the other direction

Do you know a Funster who bought a 'van with only ONE door (and that's on the offside)
I do!

And no, it's not a problem except at Trago when some random cockwomble drives so close to the offside, the driver can't get out of the 'van at all.

Driver side hab door.
Don't think about it.
Never heard any rattles, and we do spend most of our time in Europe, so it works for us.

Unless you’re talking about PVC’s then most vans are too wide to park on roadside parking bays where you may consider this point.

So exit via the passenger door at kerbside to avoid that.

I agree, a small one but still one.

then there are the wardens at check-in...OH you're continental..I say you're continental.. you'll have to reverse in......yeah OK mate ...:)

but never any major problems

We've got 2 vans , one uk spec , one not .
Never causes a problem just pitch accordingly.

Only occasionally use those kind of campsites but never had a warden to me how to park.

It can present a problem for Marshalls at rallies. When planning for the rally layout and making allowances for best wind direction, the marshall may have to decide to favour UK or continental vans. As there are usually more continental vans, I am a winner.:dance2:

More of a problem wiping out pedestrians if using the hab door against the pavement

The CAMC rules very specifically say you can pitch nose in or tail in. I don’t use their sites very often but have never had any sniffy comments from their staff about pitching with the door on any particular side.

I copied this from their Campsite Rules.
“On most pitches, outfits may be pitched nose or tail in. Site staff will advise guests where their outfit should go in relation to the pitch marker(s). If guests wish to pitch in any other way please ask site staff.”

We’ve been told which way to park at the club sites, and even at temporary sites. But still wouldn’t change as I want a quality and reliable van.
