Oban esplanade

The long used esplanade motorhome parking is disappearing, as the council has started painting parking bays, prior to the introduction of charging. As you'd expect from an anti-motorhome council, the bays are car size.

The ironic thing is that the council is actively encouraging yachtsmen, with an expensive new berthing within the town.

So, attract yachtsmen, discourage motorhomers.

Speaking to locals (one a council employee), it seems that most people are against the developments on the esplanade, and is seen as income generation only, and doing nothing to enhance Oban as a tourist destination.

Crazy, isn't it? We spent lots of money when we were there a couple of years ago - especially in the Seafood Hut!
