I am on several motorhome forums like a lot of Members.

I not that MHFun seems to have a higher percentage of new posters in the posts than other motorhome forums.

I wonder what is the reason. Does Jim do some sort of promoting?

Whilst I have always been ready on several forums to welcome and help newcomers with advice, as a return for help I have had, I find the volume of Newbies on here more than I could keep up with.

So I apologise to any to whom I do not respond, but there is only so much time, in addition to posting on subjects I am interested in or can contribute to.

Am I alone with this problem?

Geoff

Jim doesn't need to promote, though he does at motorhome shows having a stand at most.
Motorhomefun is at the top of Google's list which is promotion enough.

despite the previous owner of facts registering motorhomefun.com to try and redirect some of the traffic to his website, it failed leaving this the most successful motorhome forum in the uk

@nicholsong The secret is stimulating contributors (each other) to make posts - good -bad - and indifferent besides all the technical stuff and Travel help that interests me most :)

I don’t see any problem with newcomers - they are absolutely the same as the long standing contributors on here and they don’t need treating any differently whatsoever in my opinion :)

And they don’t need 10 yr member stickers either lol! :)

I was going to post about this , earlier as there seemed to be a long list of new members all at once but what it was , one poster had welcomed them all at once even though the op had been sometime earlier, and had bumped them all up at once.

Google searches on motorhome related products & topics kept bringing us to here & this friendly forum had the best info. so we joined - this was a few years ago so would imagine the same thing is happening even more now thanks to everyones contributions (y)

Chaps, lets not discount the possibility that these newbies could all be Russian posters.

If FUN is brought to it's knees then there really is no hope for the country.

Like Geoff, above, I've had my suspicions for some weeks:D

@Blue Knight Dont worry so much just wear rubber gloves before you get hold of your motorhome door handle :)

I was vaguely aware there were other forums as they get mentioned occasionally but I'm too old, too tired, too lazy to look elsewhere.

Jim doesn't need to promote,

I spend at least 6 to 8 hours a week online doing just that (every week for 10 years) promoting/tweaking/search engine optimising etc but I can't really take the credit for how lively this place is. What I do is insignificant compared to the promotion by existing members. A personal recommendation to visit or get help here is worth weeks of my toiling away working on our Google search position.

Yes the shows do get us some recruits, but again what we do in the trade/tea tent area is nothing to compared to the word being spread by happy members on the showground.

When new people start out with motorhomes they might find and lurk on facebook groups and quite a few forums but it doesn't take people long to realise that Motorhomefun is a genuinely nice place to spend time, a place where you can be entertained and informed, a place they are prepared to break cover and ask their questions.

Long may it remain Fun (y)

Guys just do a quick google for the following topics.
"Grey waste dribbling"
"motorhome gassing"

Surprisingly we don't get on the first page for A frame :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I have only dabbled on another couple of FB linked motorhome pages and been so heavily moderated I will not be bothering to post there in future

I was told to change my words by a non moderator, then within 1 hour and before I had even spotted the comment, my posts had vanished, just leaving the request to change which did rather confuse me

Many thanks Jim for letting things flow, I don't think my comments were out of order or I wouldn't have posted

Maybe others don't like the moderation aspects either and are moving over to where things might be more welcoming (y)

I don't know for sure why this forum gets more new members than others but I do know Motorhome Fun is the only motorhome forum I post on...

JJ
Likewise JJ.
I really don’t have anymore time to spend on other forums as I’m on here so much, mostly reading but do try to contribute and am always telling others how great it is.
Long may it continue even if a few have to go to the midlands occasionally which I nearly always seem to miss.
