What wattage is your motor?

I fitted 250w,and am well pleased.

Can you tell us about the conversion, eg was it your first conversion, did you get a conversion kit and how did you get on doing the conversion?

Having done a few its straightforward, you need a crank puller and a Philips screwdriver its that easy! remove the crank, fit the magnetic pick up in the bottom bracket and zip tie the speed sensor on the bracket, refit the crank and run the wiring up to the battery and the controller then handle bars, that's it about 20 mins if nothing seized, just soak any nuts and bolts overnight with penetrating fluid if looking rusty. Conversion kits off websites, check your rear wheel axle space and that you will have space behind the chainwheel on the bottom bracket ( 2mm `min) where it joins the frame, if its a standard bike most kits fit, as for battery life its around 800 to 100 cycles re charge so even if used every day its nearly three years try ali express as well as flea bay All the wiring is colour coded and fitted with one direction one way fitting plugs, just line the arrows up

Hello,
This was my first conversation, I bought the kit from Custom Built Ebikes.
They have fitting guides and loads of info on their Web site.
Also watched quite a few videos on YouTube etc.

Ran into a few problems fitting the kit, nothing serious and managed to sort it all out in the end without too much trouble.
Crank pulling tool and bottom bracket removal tool required along with the usual Allen keys, screw drivers etc.
First problem was cable guides under the bottom bracket, the motor was hitting the brackets.
Modified the guides to allow the motor to fit .

Second problem was fitting the speed sensor , on my bike there was insufficient distance between frame and wheel to allow fitting as per the guides, I overcame this by modifying a clamping bracket, worked out well and more secure than using tie wraps.

Next problem was the battery position, the original Rivnut positions on my bike did not allow the battery to fit, I had to drill and fit new Rivnuts to secure the battery mounting plate .

Had to buy new handlebar grips, damaged the old ones when removing.
Fitted the new brake levers, controls etc without any problems.

Ran and connected all the cables, can't go wrong with these, colour coded and male / female for ease.
Secured all cables with Velcro type tie wraps, easy to fit and remove / reposition cables as required.

That's pretty much it, hope this helps.
If you require more info, pm me.
Always available for a call, video call on WhatsApp is free and I can show you the bike / modifications etc.

Thanks a lot for the information and I will take a look at Custom Built Ebikes.

Although the number of tasks seems small it doesn't seem that easy to me but I've potentially 3 bikes to do and I would prefer to do it myself than take the somewhere.
