Going over mid April, want to visit Normandy and Brittany.

We arrive in Calais early morning so want to move along , had thought about Ler Crotoy, but they are now charging 9 euro per night.

Any suggestions for aires etc close to the sea, prefer low cost/free if possible...

What’s wrong with €9 🤔

You can’t take it with you

But Montruiel sur mer was free last time we stopped
Montruiel sur mer is now €17. I dont mind paying but Le Crotoy has no facilities, and its a rough car park... We wantedn somewhere for a couple of nights.

Dives Sur Mer - free park up in the area you're looking for .. we stayed there a few weeks ago, thought it was a really good spot and we would definitely go back!

Visited here 50 years ago and would love to go back. There is an Aire

One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to Villedieu-les-Poelles (hope I spelt that correctly) on market day.

Mont St Michel was touristy even then and I wouldn't revisit but nice to see from a distance.

Still free according to S4S and a lovely town to visit

For Normandy & Brittany, "Oi wouldn't start from here, sor". Calais puts you over a hundred miles from where you want to be. Dieppe or Caen would put you much closer unless you are a 'recycled mole'.

We stayed here last summer. We had tried the aire in Granville but it was nothing more than a sloping car park and very windy road to get there so we carried on. We actually extended our stay to 2 nights because we liked it so much.

It was free in December and I think cliffanger have stayed there since then and can confirm.

Many of the aires along the northern coast are payable now, not many freebies.

This one is aside a leisure lake 9km cycle or drive to the coast and no problem about space being there upon return. It's free.

For those following the journal (s) will realise we feel we made a huge error in judgement going to St Valery en Caux last night.
Well the place got worst if that is possible. We had made arrangements with our french close neighbours that they... https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/journals/lac-de-caniel-cany-barville-cracker.99/

Both the Aires at Le Crotoy have services, I prefer the one at the northern end of the town behind the sand dunes. Nice walk into town beside the sea about 1½ miles to the centre.
Plenty of good seafood restaurants.

I second this, popular but pleasant enough. Short walk to beach and even shorter to Lidl for supplies.

We nearly always stop at Montruiel for a night, either coming or going, but in spite of its full name you won’t find sea anymore, that went centuries ago!

I think we tried Valery en caux a couple of years ago and couldn’t find the right entrance. We arrived at a height barrier, then panicked, as did another van behind us and just drive on. 🙈

Le Croroy has all services and overlooks the harbour.

Neufchatel Hardeloh, free park up within walking distance of the sea, no facilities though.

There used to be 2 Airs in Le Crotoy, the popular one up by the harbour and another the other side of town between the lake and sand dunes. Are they both charging the same?

Yep, they have always charged the same, I prefer the sand dunes one.
