North east coast?

So long as it keeps you happy ... some people are easily pleased!
Oh I did, it just gets a bit boring reading the 'same thing' all the time ... I've got a new one for you to 'investigate' ... what came first, the chicken or the egg? (That should keep you busy for a while!).

Ho ho ho ......run out of logical arguments and resorting to attempts at p***s taking.....very poor:rofl:

I think the best way forward here would be for a crew of 16 Motorhome s to take to the roads for some trips.

4 should head to the highlands and also drive around the Scottish coast.

4 should head for Wales.

4 should tour England, including beauty spots, Parliament Square and again the coast.

The remaining 4 should travel to Spain, via France.

Once on the road they should keep us informed with regular updates on

officials reactions
personal health
availability of sites and services
locals reactions

So all we need is 19 more volunteers

Hi all thinking about 1 or 2 overnights on the east coast somewhere next week for wife's birthday. Thinking we might not be welcome anywhere too so really not sure. Haven't got a clue where to stay or even if anywhere available to pitch and plug in overnight. Anyone any ideas? 1 night wild if nothing else available. We have 2 dogs to walk too and like a nice beach near ish. ??? Have mixed feelings about doing it and the reaction we might get ?
North East Englandshire or Scotland......BIG difference

Nah, tea arrived and it was MUCH more interesting! :giggle:

Law is law.
Doesn't always make sense.
Isn't morals
Isn't logical

people will always look for loopholes (one look at tax law is proof of this). The more loopholes that are found the greater the complexity of the law.

in law there is a preset of obeying the ethos of that law.
If we do not obey the ethos the law will become more stringent and prescriptive.

many of the rules imposed on the back of this virus have not matched common sense and have often conflicted with practices required from guidance.

just because you can doesn't mean you should. Nonsense is not a defence.
True. The travel rules are a joke, lack continuity, logic and reason.
Also true is the need to obey them at the moment. In another week or two the gravitational pull of people realising the ludicrousness will cause them to ease but if too many break them to early the result will be tighter controls. Let's lull the authorities into a false security.
law and sense do not always go hand in hand.

I suspect you to be correct. However, unless someone points out the Stupidity illogicality of (any) current diktat. Those who`s bright idea it was, will assume they are more astute than their actual intelligence level would indicate?. As we are aware, much of this alleged temporary control legislation is formulated by numpties Bureaucrats, and passed to Ministers to inform the proletariat. There is nothing a Bureaucrat likes more than to believe He/She/It, is in control of any given situation. Which IMV is often why the country lurches from one extreme (of stupidity) to the other.

It has been my long held belief that "Yes Minister" was far less comedic, and more than accurate in its underlying description of the machinations of Whitehall, and our Local Authorities.

Coronavirus: Will I be able to go on holiday?
You are free to drive any distance to other destinations in England, like parks and beaches, but are not supposed to stay overnight somewhere you do not normally live. This includes any second property you may own.

I wonder what all the long distance truck drivers are doing now, they will certainly be parking up somewhere!

I personally see nothing wrong with parking up somewhere and not coming into contact with anyone, after all is that not what wildcampers aim for.
The difference is that a long distance truck driver is delivering food for the nation (for example) a MoHo owner is not playing by the current rules and will attract a fine and be sent home.

Please read the thread.

Yes. we all know about "rules".

"Rules, are for the obedience of fools, and the guidance of wise men". Douglas Bader, Quoting Harry Day.

indeed. Yes Minister was 100% accurate. Of that I'm certain.

I see the argument for staying overnight but under the current circumstances I wouldnt do it, but the guidance is badly written. 'not supposed to' doesn't mean cant ..... and that's some if the confusion.
I try to believe that those writing the guidance have tested the guidance against valid opposing arguments BUT it appears they havent. My experience also suggests the same.

For clarity in this discussion thread, in my opinion the guidance is NOT clear, but its intent is that you should be at your home address/prime residence overnight unless it is for work purposes. So that is what I am reluctantly doing.

'not supposed to'
That is the BBC‘s version of what was said not exactly what Boris Johnson said when asked about holiday homes.

However, yes the guidance is confusing and open to interpretation and maybe doesn’t carry much logic at times but has been all along throughout the crisis. I have been criticised regularly for saying that.
Yes there are people deliberately ignoring guidance and the law, same as there are people interpreting it to suit their wants/needs, but there are obviously people who are still simply confused by what is being asked Of them.

Rightly or wrongly, logic or not at this moment in time we are required to return to our primary home overnight.

Everyone here is adult (ish) and there is nothing stopping anyone doing what they want, as long as you accept the consequences.

i agree with holding the government to account and challenging decisions.....but on a Motorhome forum, I’d suggest is not the place that will effect any kind of change. If people feel that strongly speak to your local MP....that’s what YOU/WE pay them for.

Newish member ... only second post.... new to motor homing....

"Wow"................... gives them a nice impression on how this club works... :swear2:
I'm a new member and find that people like to bully others online if they have a different view, and this forum is showing the same social tendencies. It's abhorrent and you should desist. Those of us who are older than the NHS followed our parents in fighting for freedom of expression and tolerating different views and activities. Those self righteous posters need to consider how governments control populations, perhaps reading Joe Goebbles for an insight into propaganda.

Long distance lorry drivers are at work and are therefore totally legal to park up. I live fairly near the coast and i can assure you the locals will not be happy about anybody parking up in a MoHo. You can thank also the MoHo's that park up for days in a lay by with lovely views, and drive off leaving rubbish and worse.

Not quite sure what you are trying to say here. From the sound of it, it seems you think we should ignore the majority advice given on this forum, and at the same time ignore government advice, and basically do your own thing.

Don't even attempt to come to Scotland we are still quite rightly so still on lockdown so please stay away more than 30,000 people have died with this virus , and still some folks think it's ok to jump in a motorhome and travel the locals will hunt you down , have patience this will eventually settle down and the open roads will be once again just stay safe ?

The egg as the fowl that laid it wasn't quite a hen / chicken but a proto-chicken.

quis custodiet ipsos custodies. Who will watch the watchers?.

Hi Minxy Girl , nothing to do with this thread however had to answer this question as to which came first the Chicken or the egg:

the Egg had to come first as chickens (in common with all birds) evolved from dinosaurs each of which are born as eggs (stay with me here) therefore at some point in time the thing that hatched changed from being a recognisable dinosaur to being a recognisable chicken therefore in theory (with a bit of artistic licence and ignoring all the evolution between dinosaur and chicken) a dinosaur laid an egg and the first chicken hatched out of it even ignoring the bit between the bottom line is the first ever recognisable chicken hatched from an egg laid by an animal that wasnt a recognisable chicken hence the egg came first.

The egg as the fowl that laid it wasn't quite a hen / chicken but a proto-chicken.

Puddleduck my defence for being beaten to this answer is mine took a lot longer to type but good to see great minds think alike though you may prefer your mind not being compared to my rather weird one.

Both right but....

Who said anything about the egg being a chicken egg?

The question was, what came first the chicken or the egg?

You both took the assumption the question related to a chicken egg ????

Can you tell I’m bored....

Very true XxAnthxX however the answer would still be the egg even if you are simply considering both Egg and chicken as an entity (or concept come to that).

I take your boredom and double it!

I did amend my post, when I realised what I’d done......

i‘ll raise your boredom by 10 ?

Took a 10 minute drive to Holy Island today but signs state that the carparks were closed so turned around. I bet there were still a few parking at side of road though.

yes XxAnthxX but Surely if you were to amend your post you would have arrived at pots, spot or tops or more importantly stop which is what the chicken did after it came out of the egg (yet again proving the Egg came first).
I take your raise of 10 boredoms and am now all in (and bear in mind I have just finished counting my garden seeds ready for planting and have calculated I have sufficient seeds to plant at the rate of 5 seeds per square inch)!!

You win I’m out.......??????

I'm doing Edinburgh to Aberdeenshire in the van next week. I'll let you know how I get on. Or if I need someone to post my bail.
