North east coast?

There are risks to keyworkers coming into contact, touching things and transmitting the virus. But they have to do it so we can eat, drink, attend hospital etc.

No-one has to go the north east coast just for a jolly. We need tp apply common sense. If not, the govt will clamp down again.

If I travel a few miles in a fully serviced motorhome and have a self isolated walk as exercise, which I am now allowed to do, how does staying overnight in that van, still isolating and having no contact with anyone affect the spread of the virus anymore than driving the few miles back home.

Then take another self isolating walk the day after without having to make two journeys.

In my opinion that is common sense.

Put your question to the government at the daily brief.....we’d all love to do it but it’s just not allowed.

So you probably won’t be risking the virus....but potentially risking the fine

There is nothing I would like better than to bugger off in my van for a couple of nights. HOWEVER the new ruling clearly states you need to return to your normal residence by the end of the evening. I understand the arguments quoted above re ‘in isolation’ within the MH but the rules are quite clear on this point. I would love to go and visit my best friend and spend a couple of hours sitting in her back garden having a chat and a catch up (2 metre rule observed) but it’s not permitted so can’t be done!
PLEASE - follow the rules and don’t spoil it for others.

If one person does it many more will follow.

If a lorry driver tests positive it is known his/her route and contacts can be traced and tracked ...... the same is not true for tourists.

I have doubts about the illegality of what I describe.

It now seems ok for workers to travel to work on overcrowded public transport, look at pictures of the London tube system but not ok to self isolate in my van well away from others.

A teacher this week commented that if primary schools are re opened she will be expected to teach in close proximity to 5 year old's but cannot visit her own grandchildren.

Not a lot of common sense being applied in those cases.

My son is a key worker, lorry driver, and my daughter is a primary school teacher and in the vulnerable category due to health conditions so I do have some interest in this topic.

The 1st recommendation says it all on my opinion.

Risk - if you go out you will increase the risk, so stay at home.

"They", are speculating about letting 22 people kick a football about a field?. How are they going to avoid "Contact"?.

THAT IMV is far more likely to increase the spread of Chinese Virus that me spending the night in my Motorhome!.

But then, I don`t command the Millions of pounds the obscenely overpaid contestant(s) do. So as usual MONEY will (likely) win!.

Today's Briefing

The final question in today's government briefing comes from a reporter on Lincolnshire Live and is about the harsh impact of the lockdown on the tourism and hospitality industry.

He says there is a risk that the modest relaxation of the rules could see an influx of people travelling to coastal areas, risking a rise in infections, while bringing "minimal economic benefit" to those areas.

The business secretary says the last two months have been really hard for the tourism and hospitality sectors.

He says the new rules coming into force do allow people to travel more but do not permit overnight stays.

Asked when tourism firms may be allowed to re-open, he stresses the importance of avoiding a second peak and suggests that only when ministers are sure this has been avoided, then it can look to allow people to go on breaks and holidays across the UK.

He promises "baby steps not giant strides".

Its all about INTERPRETATION of the policies released

If the “rules” are open to interpretation , you have an absolute right to interpret the rules as you see fit, however that concept forces you ( does it not?) to concede that the man with the fines and the man with a wig has the same right to interpret the rules in a different way

To minimise the spread of the virus this county is minimising as much movement and contact of people as possible.
Boris lifted the ban on travelling to other destinations.
Other destinations, without any contrary CLARIFICATIONS, mean exactly that.... From home to SOMEWHERE ELSE.

If I wanted to break the law, I'd not be announcing it on a public forum.

Not really about the logic.
Plenty of legislation appears to make no sense.
But the OP's intentions are specifically proscribed.

But you must return home

1.7 Are there restrictions on how far I can travel for my exercise or outdoor activity?
No. You can travel to outdoor open space irrespective of distance. You shouldn’t travel with someone from outside your household unless you can practise social distancing - for example by cycling. Leaving your home - the place you live - to stay at another home is not allowed.

1.9 Are day trips and holidays ok? Can people stay in second homes?
Day trips to an outdoor open space, in a private vehicle, are permitted. You should practise social distancing from other people outside your household.

Leaving your home - the place you live - to stay at another home for a holiday or other purpose is not allowed. This includes visiting second homes.

Premises such as hotels and bed and breakfasts will remain closed, except where providing accommodation for specific reasons set out in law, such as for critical workers where required for a reason relating to their work.

Obviously I can see the difference that the slogan you use spells out.

Please tell me what is the difference between self isolating in a truck in a lay bye or service area and doing the same thing in a different vehicle. Obviously if self isolating is not possible then don't do it.
Drivers find it very difficult to self isolate as my son knows..He was confirmed with Covid19 last week..He drives for The Coop on store deliveries from a main warehouse. He rekons it nearly impossible to keep the 2 metre distancing when delivering.BUSBY.

Speculating is different to doing it. BUSBY :giggle: :giggle:

And your point being?

we’re talking about not returning to your normal residence overnight.

oh and the unrestricted travel doesn’t come into effect till tomorrow.....

For anyone with an ounce of common sense, going away for the weekend is not only forbidden by the government, but seeing the north east is currently the worst affected part of the country, don't make matters worse for the NHS.

Clearly you have not considered that if one motorhome starts off on their travels then it is OK for everyone to be out and about in theirs.

You are suggesting that because the government has shown a blinding lack of common sense, it is therefore fine for the population to do likewise.

How do you work that one out? South east in the figures I saw

The 4 Local Authorities with the largest number of cases per 100,000 population are Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside and Middlesbrough. All north east authorities. Kent, for instance, has about 40% less cases.

I hope your son is not too ill and soon recovers, has he been hospitalised?
Mine is on mainly bulk deliveries of imported product for industrial pharmaceutical and food processing companies and all delivery and collection points have strict policies on safe distancing so is reasonably safe so far.

I dont think it will happen,,BUSBY :giggle:
