Lots but slow learner.
Want to plan a week in The Broads spring time.
What are the 2 towns/citys considered to be "central" to the Broads, and anyone know of a good camp site that will accept a 8mt MH, and trailer with car on.
As stated we have to car to get about so if the site is out in the sticks then no worries............be nice if it was in walking distance to a pub though.

the two cities might be norwich and great yarmouth perhaps..
can't help with your other questions though, the only experience i've had of the broads is with friends donkeys years ago when we hired a boat for a week and each took turns in wearing the captains hat for a day..
lived on home made curry and whisky, thankfully took photos for reminders, other than that can't remember much but it was a great laugh..

If a member of the 2 clubs they have sites in Norwich (C&CC) or Broadlands near Ludham (C&MC) Norwich being the main city. Lots of other private sites around plus many THS organised.

Try Reedham Ferry, had a few days there in September. Nice pub, nice walks along the river to Reedham village which is nice (another pub 👍).
Another one is a campsite near the Lion at Thurne, fairly handy for Potter Heigham etc.

Centre of broads is Wroxham CS site at landamores (old boatyard) waterside pitches but very popular in centre of wroxham. Alternative would look at Dog inn ludham next to cmhc main site, another possibility is Simpsons boatyard stalham. On the southern rivers we use Reedcutters pub at cantley another CL any of these I would let then know you are bringing a trailer.

You could check out Wroxham, its where we live. Its regarded as being the place to go to on the Broads for boat hire, pubs & shops. There are some beautiful villages close by with great pubs & restaurants on or near the river. There is also a train station in Wroxham that takes around 20 mins to Norwich or bit longer in the other direction to Cromer. There is a van stop in the boatyard looking across the river at Kings Head pub, I've never used it but have seen plenty of motorhomes there & I believe there's EHU.

Wroxham general area sounds like what we are looking for.
Do want a site with EHU and Water and preferably hard standing.
Thanks people so far.

OR……..
Leave the van at home and hire a boat. That’s the best way to see the broads imo. Very relaxing environment.
We prefer the northern broads, rivers Ant and Thurne, rather than the rivers south of Yarmouth. Plenty of riverside pubs.

Norwich is a nice city. Several Park and Rides. Great Yarmouth isn’t so great anymore but has a good beach. But there are so many good beaches along the coast. I avoid Yarmouth whenever I can. I used to work there and my wife comes from there and she avoids it too! Depends what you are looking for in a city. North Norfolk is good. Try Holt. Lots of independent shops. A couple of small sites within walking distance. Manor farm in Ludham is a small 5 pitch site in Ludham village. All hardstanding. Bus route to Norwich. Plenty of walks.

The Broads are best for boating and canoeing, but for motorhoming, I find them boring ..

Hire a boat, but after a few hours or days that can also be boring.

Gt. Yarmouth is best avoided...

Beccles is a nice town, my son lives there, and you can hire a small boat for the day.

As mentioned, the North Norfolk coast is far more interesting..

Norwich is an interesting city for a day out ..

I recommend taking a look at Whitlingham Broad Campsite, in a country park & on the edge of Norwich (which is deffo worth a visit anyway).

Not sure about walking to a pub but there's a busy licensed cafe across the road and its not too far to drive to town.
Various glamping pods further up the hill but the campervan field nearer the lake had loads of space when we went.

I ve overnighted at the maltsters ranworth a few times when going to Simsons at Yarmouth. A good location on the broads. water available at the marina small shop nearby. Stayed in carpark. Recent reviews not so complementary. Suited us.
ps
A pub in the heart of the Norfolk Broads has closed its doors.

The Maltsters in Ranworth, near South Walsham, is widely reported by locals to have closed.
The pub's associated website and social media accounts have all gone offline and multiple attempts to contact its owners have proved unsuccessful.
READ MORE: Duncan Baker demands Broads Authority toll increase rethink
The picturesque pub, which dates back to the 18th century, lies on the banks of the Malthouse Broad and is a stone's throw away from the popular Ranworth Broad.
so pherhaps not worth a reccomendation!!!!!

We went to the Broads a couple of years go and found it as boring as hell, couldn’t wait to leave. Rented a boat for a couple of hours and took it back after an hour.
We did exactly that with our boat as the dog was freaking out at the noise of the engine:oops:

If you are spending a week it may be worth considering splitting between North Norfolk coast and the Broads to get the best. For North Norfolk ,look at Deepdale Camping. They have serviced and hardstanding, close to stunning beaches and some great pubs and restaurants. Not the cheapest but certainly one of the best. For Broads, Clippesby Hall has already been mentioned. It’s a good site with a bar on site. Otherwise look around the Wroxham area where we live. That is the centre of the Broads. Norwich really is the only City to visit. Lovely place, good restaurants and pubs, good shopping with “the lanes” and the market being worth a visit, as well as Jarrolds Dept Store. Good for food as well as shopping. Cromer is a lovely seaside town to visit. It has good sites near it in Northrepps and at West Runton with C&MC’s Incleboro Fields site. North Norfolk railway, steam line is at Sheringham near Cromer. It’s a nice trip in lovely countryside to Holt, a lovely Georgian town.
I would give Gt Yarmouth a wide berth, just my personal view, it’s a bit of a run down seaside town, that’s fine for families in summer but out of season has little to offer.

There is an app I used when I stayed there for a few days you might find helpful

The best way to see the Norfolk Broads is by hiring a boat. You'd need at least two weeks to do them all properly.
You will not see much of them from the road but will get closer by walking. Even then, much is inaccessible on foot or is hidden by the reed beds.
Hire a small day boat from Potter Heigham for a peaceful trip to Horsey Mere and windmill. From Wroxham there are boat trips or, better still, see if you can get a trip on a wherry.
If you're not bothered about getting close to the water, Norfolk (and Suffolk) is a great place to visit but, as the thread title mentioned the Broads, I assumed that the water network was your primary interest. Wroxham would be a good land base from which to explore.

I lived in Gt.Yarmouth for 5 years, Norwich for 6 years and Lowestoft for 7 years, so know the overall area quite well. Having read the above comments I'd agree that it's not possible to see the broads (themselves) properly from a motorhome; but nor is it possible to visit many of the plethora of lovely villages in the area from a boat. Given that you already own a motorhome and (presumably) would prefer not to have the huge expense of hiring a boat for a week or more, then I'd say the previous suggestions of a campsite near Wroxham are probably the most sensible. This would give you not only access to hire a boat for a few hours (or a day) to get a ''taste'' of the broads, but also a great base from which to strike out to visit North Norfolk (the ''prettiest'' part of Norfolk in my opinion), nip into Norwich, or visit Great Yarmouth. But really, GY is a shadow of its former-self these days and wouldn't be high on my to-do list. But still, lots of lovely little villages surround the place and the area (weather allowing!) won't disappoint. Good luck!!

Cromer and that coast is nice. You could drive to Wroxham from there. The Broads aren't generally accessible by car. You need a boat to see them properly. A weekend would be good so you could moor up at a pub in a village for a night and then go on to another one. You'd experience the Broads life and know whether you wanted to go back for longer

Was confined to cabin the next day😢😢
