So until "hopefully" Spain manages to get us back in for longer , what countries are we relatively happy going to that's not 90 days but gets us the sunnier winters ? Without the 90 in 180 worry

get the 180 day french visa and you can stay for 9 months in the EU wherever you want with no need to travel massive distances

If you really wanted to work it to the max then 355 in 365 is possible

Cyprus might be a contender?

Sadly not. Been in the EU since 2004 and though not part of Schengen still has the 90/180 rules for non EU citizens without visas.

Not according to foreign travel advice GOV.UK

“…..Schengen area
Cyprus is not part of the Schengen area, so:
visits to Cyprus do not count towards your 90-day visa-free limit in the Schengen area…..”

Yes, you're right. However Cyprus also has a 90/180 limit for visa-less travel so probably not what the OP was after. I guess you could hang around in the general area (Greece) and pop backwards and forwards playing the 90/180 game in two different places?

You need to register as a resident @ 90 days in Cyprus. Or have an appointment with immigration to do so.
But it does not count against your Schengen days.
Ferry Greece to Southern Cyprus runs in the summer. Or turkey northern Cyprus ferries run all year but there are few places to cross into the south with a motorhome.
South is better weather in winter but still get cool periods.
