Noisy water pump

How noisy should exterior mounted water pumps be when running? Our moho had a new pump fitted before we took delivery of it and it's always been very noisy - it's a sort of brrrrttt noise (bit like an A10 Thunderbolts gun going off)!
Is this normal?
 
Mine is noisy as well, I'm not sure but imagine it is dependent how we'll soundproofed they are.
 
The pump is attached to a bracket that fixes to the bulkhead on the end of the kitchen. The bracket is rubber mounted but no amount of holding/ squeezing / levering is making it any quieter.
 
Make sure the pipework isn't in direct contact with the floor, cupboard walls etc.
They will act like a soundboard as the pump and pipes vibrates and pulses.

Often the pipe work not the pump that is vibrating on things.
 
Checked the pipework into and out of the pump - all OK. It's definitely the pump that's grumbling.
 
Why did the dealership replace it?

Is it any louder than that last one in you other motorhome?
 
We never heard the original - they put the new pump in as part of the"service and check" arrangement prior to us collecting it. As this is our first motorhome, I wasn't sure if it was the norm for a pump to be noisy. We had a submersible pump in our T4 camper van and you couldn't hear that one working.
 
Motorhome pumps are noisy, just live with them and as someone else said a noisy pump let's you know it's working and if you can hear it and the taps aren't running and the pump system is turned on, you have a leak

That's all I wanted to know - if it's noisy and good, I'm a happy bunny 👍

indeed,
have pipework lagging all over our internal pipework that's accessable to prevent soundboard effect.
 
Can you unscrew the pump from the wall and insert a piece of carpet and then screw it back onto the wall through the carpet?

Had the noise issue with our new Rimor so I fitted an accumulator after the pump. Has reduced the noise by a large margin. Need a little more work to support pipes etc on foam rubber.

Problem sorted - it is the pop-up table that is attached to the same bulkhead that is vibrating - only noticed it when I put the table up and Sharon started washing something in the sink - doh! 🥴

I had something pop up once while the boss was washing something in the sink, I nearly fell off the worktop when she turned on the cold tap .... :rolleyes:
 
Adding a small expansion tank smooths the flow and reduces sound a bit too.
 
Rather than carpet as an insulator, i find that a piece of foam yoga type mat makes an excellent vibration isolator.

Where did you fit the accumulator under the bench seat?

Yes, between the tank and sidewall. Still to finish it off lol.

I added an accumulator (a Fiamma one) recently - it's made a world of difference. Pump is noticeably quieter (although I did re-site it), doesn't stay on as long, and you get constant pressure on the water rather than pulsing. For the money - no brainer! (Can manage a loo flush without the pump going off - could probably just turn it off over night, then turn it on again in the morning to repressurise and have it silent overnight!).
