Went to look at an Adria Coral 660sp today. Nice clean vehicle and looked after. Surprised not to find an oven in the van. 3 ring burner and grill so how do they do all their cooking. Is it possible to retro fit a cooker. Theres a big drawer under the hob which can be taken out and a cooker fitted in. Possibly a bit of a faff and expensive though. Any thoughts wise people?

Think it's the English Van's that have a full size cooker our adria only has a 3 burner hob and a grill. Ovens are not so much of a thing in europe

a lot of European spec vans don't have an oven as standard.

we find our oven is not that effective and mostly try to avoid using it. It very much depends on how you travel and what you enjoy eating. i.E. will you be mostly on hook up; or mostly on gas! on hook up there are lots of appliances available that are as effective ( if not more so ) as the van oven.

I plan on being off-grid whilst using it so an oven would be essential. I like a lot of the ready meals that you can chuck in the oven and take them out 25 min later.

there are portable gas oven / cookers for camping that might suit your purpose and could be plugged into an external gas point.

if you want cooking indoors then you are likely to have to bite the bullet and put an oven under the hob or even replace for an oven hob combination.
there are plenty about from around £400 new plus fitting costs.

Our roller team came with a smev grill, that was a waste of space, managed to fit smallest smev oven into space (slightly bigger) best thing we did.

Some European vans have full cookers, my Frankia had one. It was one of several reasons why I bought it.

We have a EuraMobil, no oven of course. Wife says that next van must have an oven.

All that's needed are a couple of gas rings. A Remoska is a great oven alternative.

2000 nights away, never used an oven. Its not essential by any stretch.
You may consider something like a ridgemonkey where you can cook some oven things on the hob (like battered fish etc).
I know a few people that use the oven, I know more that have one and use it as a cupboard.
Everyone is different.

microwave, especially as you're looking to cook ready meals? you would though also need a decent battery (lithium) and inverter, solar, b2b etc for off grid use, but they will all add value to your van.

This is our first van with no oven, surprised that I only miss it a bit, it has a microwave, which is a good store for biscuits, would remove it if We could find the cupboard that was taken out to fit it.
How do we manage? Remoska when on hook up, but it is possible, if your set up is good enough, to use off grid, brilliant for heating/cooking ready meals and a cadac which is quite versatile with the lid on. Miss my old skillet which was a great stove top 'oven' believe you can get them now, but don't really have the storage space for one

These are hob top cookers and it’s amazing what you can cook with them, amongst other things I do bake bread in ours. https://brownbirdandcompany.co.uk/collections/omnia if you get one make sure you also get the silicon ring

This Finish couple are full timers and use one

I also have a Coral 660SP.

No oven, no grill, just a three burner hob and a microwave when on EHU.

I Freedom Camp about 80% of the time and manage with just the hobs.

Plenty of work arounds especially ready meals, even frozen ones.

If frozen let it defrost and then treat as fresh.

Pierce the top of the meal container.

Add water to the pan, fill to a suitable depth.

Place a trivet in the bottom.

Place the meal container on the trivet.

Heat the pan and bring the water to the boil. The trivet stops the plastic food container making direct contact with the base of the pan.

Cover the pan and leave it to simmer away until the food is hot.

Remember to top up the water as required.

Cooking time is trial and no error.
