Under the bonnet of an A class Pilote. What does it mean/do? There is one on each side in matching positions.

Only a guess though.

Well that's a new one on me. How does that work?
Well it was only a guess, but this is what google says re gas discharge headlights,

What are gas discharge headlights?

Gas-discharge lamps are a family of artificial light sources that emit light by sending an electrical discharge through an ionised gas, i.e. plasma. Typically, such lamps are filled with a noble gas (argon, neon, krypton and xenon) or a mixture of these gases.

I will investigate further tomorrow when I go over to the van. What would the adjustment be? The white plastic Torx fitting? That wouldn't adjust the height would it?

Honestly I would only be guessing again so I wont dig any deeper.

It wouldn't be "Ground" would it? I can't see how since there are two and no obvious electrical contact...... Just grasping at straws. :giggle:

As its on a Pilote it could be an adjuster

Gauche - Left
Droit - Right
Interesting. Could be I suppose. Slightly odd is the fact that as you stand in front of the vehicle the lettering is upside down on both sides?

At the end of the day they are light units as used in Citroen judging by the part number, what the sticker means I've no idea, possibly put on by Pilote? Why the need to adjust them?few people bother.

On the part no. label, the “SEVEL” logo means it’s a standard part from the Sevel , i.e Ducato/Boxer/Relay, plant in Italy. The AL logo is Automotive Lighting , manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Beam adjusters, quite common on lots of vehicles,
If that's what they are, presumably both high beam and dipped would be moved left or right? So that couldn't be used to adjust for driving in France as the high beam would also move across.

Wouldn't it be handy if the Ducato headlights had a simple lever at the back to adjust the dip beam from UK to continental pattern.

Hardly a new idea, because this featured on several cars I have owned since the 1980s, including one with xenon lights. No need for stick-on beam blockers.

Yup. Not rocket science.

I doubt it that they are gas discharge, HID lights like LED are self levelling and probably would not need to have a headlight adjuster. You can tell if they are HID, when you switch them on, they are dim for the first 5 seconds as they are striking up, I have these on my car, they were the forerunner to LED headlights. One strange thing that the MOT bloke told me is that cars HID lights have to have headlight washers.

HID lights normally have a warning on them to remind the mechanic of the risk of electric shock, I think they operate around 700V.

I think HID are also known as Gas Discharge. Maybe in France they are commonly referred to as "Gas Discharge", and the sticker is a reminder to mechanics as you suggest?

Acropolis22- you’ll (possibly) be pleased to know that what you have there is a pair of bog standard Ducato/Boxer/Relay headlamp units, Halogen bulbs with LED Daytime running lights.2015 onwards. The white plastic socket is for beam adjustment, the good stickers ? I’ve tried every permutation from Italian to English, but I’ve no idea! My Ducato PVC has exactly the same.
