Caravan owner moved on to Motorhome
So I started the relatively simple task of adding an additional leisure battery (ready for installing an inverter). Switched everything off. Powered off the Consumer Unit. Disconnected the Solar Panel. Installed the new battery in parallel. Powered everything up. Panel showed 12.7V everything worked. Powered up the consumer unit and expected to see 14.7 on the panel (ie. charging).. still showing 12.7V.
Consumer unit trips when I press the button, so there is 240v going to it. The Solar is happily showing the state of the leisure and cab battery and is 'charging it' (even in this crap weather) with 0.4A. 12v is powering lights, heating pump etc etc. But no charging seems to be coming from the 240v consumer unit. The charger in the consumer unit is 'warm' not stone cold (which I would expect if was knackered).
I'm assuming the charger is knackered as I am seeing a current draw on the battery when on EHU and running the heating pump. But .. we all know that assumption makes an Ar*e of U and Me.
Any thoughts?
(Apologies.. this is on a 2017 Bailey Autograph II)

The voltage will not immediately go to 14.4v unless both batteries are full. Even so it will start at the battery voltage and slowly climb up. Give it a few mins charging without loads, then look for the voltage rise. If it does not rise, then you can look into the EHU charger why is not charging.

Does point to the charger even if the batteries are fully charged I would expect it to float at around 13.6v.

Hi Paul
What charger have you got? Is it the standard one with the approach labelled consumer unit?

Does the main control panel show the hook up icon? If not then the charger is not working.

Yes. It does. The 240v system is fine. The 12v is fine i.e. being supplied by the leisure battery. However, the battery isn't charging.
Plus, any 12v supplied devices i.e. the Alde Pump shows a draw on the battery even when on EHU.

The hook up signal is actually derived from the charger output on the Bailey. The fact that it is showing says that it is outputting a charging current. It is not actually derived from the 240v input. If you switch off the charger trip switch the symbol will go off. I think there is an inline fuse between the charger and the battery this may have blown.

That is interesting... that would explain why, when one flicks the 'Charger' MCB off, the 'Lost 240v Message' appears on the Panel.
There are two cables under the seats, one has a 20A fuse in it which is OK. The other is a whopper of a fuse, which I assume is the 12V 'output' from the battery. The wiring in this thing is quite an adventure.

(Just checked these two.. both fine)

Yup. That's the chappie.
I see your based in Lincolnshire(big area I know) But I recently replaced mine with a Victron multiplus so if you do need one to try/replace...... I might be down the roadish;). I take it nothing else is trying to draw off your battery, like fridge on the right setting(off) and amps reading zero on the panel?

I'm down Boston way..
I've got a PSU arriving today, decided I'd take the bull by the horns. I see you've 're-wired' your 794. Apart from the two under the rear seats, are there any other inline fuses between the PSU and the leisure battery?
The wiring in this thing is like the London Underground Map vs. The physical reality.

Took most of the wires out as I upgraded but yes I think that was the only one. I know some of the guys with similar setups have switched to victron to replace the standard charger and it fits in the same place also future proofs if you decide to go down the lithium route at some point. There is a place online https://www.apuljackelectronics.co.uk/ as well where you can send your unit for refurb/upgrade. Unfortunately the wiring has been butchered to intergrate a caravan system to the cab instead off starting a fresh. But I do like your analogy:giggle: Good luck

New Power/Charger unit arrived today. Old one out (after fighting with than damn white signal cable). New one in. Now seeing the correct charging values on the panel :)
Put the old PS306 on the meter.. black/yellow cables are dead. Red/black were ok.
All’s well that ends well.
As for the inverter.. I’ll shove a separate battery with its own victron charger in under the seats.
Thanks everyone for your help on this.
