One of our friends is about to buy his first MH - not new. I have said to him he should try and find a second hand Mk 1 Excis. Does anyone up there own one and what do you think? We have seen several on various trips and they appear well made and different - in a good way! Whereas the current Excis is just a thinner A class.,

We had an exsis old style as the photos

, very clever vans, so big inside but only about 5.5 mtrs long.

We only had it a short time, shame really, Fay(wife) said it was too cold & clinical inside , & she wouldn't drive it because of left hand drive hence we Sold it.

@chippy63 thank you for the photos. When we were out in Spain for the Winter. Couple of years ago our next door neighbours at Los Madriles had one.mthey loved it and we could see why. I have always wondered why Hymer ditched th concept as there has never been anything like it since.

@chippy63 thanks again. Just watched a short film on the Exsis owners website made by one of the two couples we know - Tom and Carol Mulcahy, who we met down at Los Madriles.
Best wishes, Gary

Before you mate buys one could I suggest that he rents one to see how he likes the layout and visits a few shows to get the feel of a motorhome in general.

@Nirvanauk
You're quite right and we took them up to the NEC last week so they could get a feel for different layouts. Like us, he and his wife are keen cyclists so they need enough space and storage options to accommodate their gear but unlike us, don't want a full sized coachbuilt. They've had a go with ours and one other local friend's and want some sort of panel van, up to 6m. My advice, based on personal experience, is don't buy new, buy quality used. I'd agree with the renting suggestion but Mark One Exsis vans are as rare as hen's teeth and as you know, renting ain't cheap. I suggested that model because those who own them (and we know two couples who do) wouldn't change them for anything. Personal recommendations count for a lot in the MH market - the problem he will have, assuming he fancies one, is finding one! We saw a beauty on our recent tour in Europe, parked opposite a Champagne house near Epernay, right alongside us.

@EX51SSS has one. I believe they only made them for 2 years ? Too well thought out & built was what I surmised.
