Rally Chat Night At The Haynes Motor Museum, Somerset - Postponed

Who fancies a Night At The Haynes Motor Museum on the Wednesday night after Lymington or Newbury Retrofestival to fill the gap between that & the Malvern Show or Old Bush Blues or just a one night mini meet?! @ymfb suggested this as a good attraction to visit & since it is (sort of) on the way from Lymington to Malvern I called their group bookings team as a long shot to see if anything might be possible.
Still finalising details but thanks to the helpful group bookings team at Haynes Motor Museum we have been offered exclusive evening access to the Museum on Wednesday 15th August 5.30pm-9pm & secure overnight parking in their car parks at a small extra chargeThe catch is we need to leave by 8am the next morning & need enough members that want to go to make it viable.

Will start a list below of those interested - we need at least 50 people (maximum of 75) for this to run as the Museum would be opening just for us!
The tickets will be at the group rate so £12.50 each & if you buy them as a Gift Aid Ticket (same cost) then you can visit again during the following 12 months so great value
In addition to the ticket cost all those booking would need to pay an extra £4 each to cover the cost of the extra security necessary for our out of hours visit & overnight parking. As this security has to be pre-booked this will have to be paid in advance as a non-refundable payment for each person booked in. There would be an Elsan point available if needed but not sure if water available too so suggest everyone arrives with sufficient water on board & empty toilet & waste tanks.
If the weather is good we could arrive from 3pm & park on the grass area to the rear of the Museum but at 5.30pm as the public leave we would have to move to the allocated hardstanding areas such as the car parks - currently we estimate that the front & rear car parks will take 38 motorhomes parked sideways so that is the current maximum depending on the sizes of those booking. If we have wet weather then we would need to arrive nearer to 5.30pm as we may not be able to temporarily use the grass area. In between would be a great time to visit the coffee shop for a cream tea or other afternoon treat & a wander around the shop We would have the Museum all to ourselves from 5.30pm-9pm! It would be a unique experience at a total cost of £16.50 each including overnight secure parking - not bad for a night in Somerset in August.
As it is the busiest time of the year for the Museum they would need us to vacate the car parks & leave by 8am - bit early for us lot but ideal for getting to Malvern early or avoiding the holiday traffic.
UPDATE 11/4/18 Water is available but don't know yet how accessible the tap is so would still be advisable to come with some in your tank if possible.

Those booked for Lymington can change the number of nights up until 25 July at the latest (2 weeks before the rally) not on arrival or during the rally as it's a lot of bookings to manage! I will try to remind everyone about this nearer to the time.

Thank you all for your interest but unfortunately this Meet won't be going ahead this year We went to visit the Museum yesterday & they have just had news that major building work will be in progress at that time so no space for motorhome parking then. If anyone is considering even visiting for the day it is unlikely that they will be able to accommodate any large vehicles in July & August as the overflow parking area will be being dug up. Even though this is a quiet time for them yesterday the main car park was full so can only imagine what it will be like in peak time in August!
The good news is that next year they will have an extra new 500 space car park & are keen to welcome a Funster Meet if we have enough demand then to arrange one We are currently emailing Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum & The National Trust in that area to see what other attractions & events could be combined with this or maybe it will fit in with Lymington Rally 2019 if this years one is a success?!
We both really enjoyed our visit to the Museum (even though I'm not a car enthusiast) & had to drag Mr Wombles away but not before we had a lovely cream tea with homemade scones in the coffee shop

Thanks for this @Wombles shame but will be great when its done by the sound of it. We enjoyed the meet that Clarkys relation did for Yeovilton Air show 2 or 3 years ago. Think it was on the sports field over the road from the base.

I went there last autumn and (although I'm not a car buff) I found it a great experience. Beautifully laid out attractive modern building , professional staff, useful info boards at each exhibit and a superb and immaculate café/coffee shop with cheerful staff at reasonable prices (the food, not the staff ).
Next day I visited the Fleet Air Arm museum just a couple of miles down the road. Another fantastic place and a visit is highly recommended.
It goes without saying that they are best visited out of the school holidays
