They seem to be everywhere in The EU, mostly German owned, especially arround Spain, a bit overkill in my view as the most many will encounter is a bit of beach sand, or Morocco, but not Jungle for the most part.
Too expensive for most to ferry over to other countries, and seeing the vehicle entry sterilisation requirement to Australia, plus the delay and cost of it is also a deterrent these days for any vehicle..
But hats off to them if it makes them happy and they don't upset the locals.
The World Health Organisation would be happy to sign them up as volunteers in war torn countries distributing aid etc.

But then how often are you in places where others vans can't reach ?I think they look cool but 95% of the time highly impractical I've seen loads in Greece etc going the same place as every other camper. Very rarely see them going anywhere other vans can't reach .
But they look cool and for some looks are more important than practicality.
Well if they're on the same parkup for weeks and months on end they haven't the time to be anywhere. Can't be in 2 places at the one time.But then how often are you in places where others vans can't reach ?
Those places might be full of Overland trucks!
25 years ago we travelled in South America in an Overlander.
We would regularly come across others in the more remote places, down by a beach or in the Amazon somewhere, as well as on the normal campsites when we mixed with normal travellers.
