Hello everyone,
Just bought a Motorhome and looking forward to adventures...was looking for general advice around electric appliances at EHU UK and Europe. This has started as I am looking at an air fryer as we only have a small warming oven and there are a number of treads about amps/watts etc.
I literally have no idea about it (I mean can I have the TV, air fryer, fridge etc all on together) all and can see me just putting all my electrics items on and tripping the whole site.
Is there any literature/info that can help a newbie out before I buy loads of gadgets and find I cannot use them.
Sorry for being so green.
Steve

Hi,
Welcome to the world of the MH, if you enjoy it half as much as me, you are in for a fantastic life. I think many EHUs are 16amp nowadays, used to be 6amp when I first had MH, so a lot better now. To calculate your total amperage add all the appliances wattages together and devide it by 220, = Amperes. You can the see what you can safely use on your supply. Easy really. Happy camping.

Slow cooker, small electric griddle and a remoska. These are lightweight and really useful items. Only use one at a time. The slow cooker is favourite.

I think on site is pretty straightforward. Off is a lot more to think about.
Off site you're going to need an inverter to power anything needing mains voltage. If it's anything using electronics like an airfyer it's going to need a sine wave inverter ( better quality....more expensive!). Anything involving heat ( hair dryer, kettle, airfyer) will be a pretty high power requirement so it's going to need a big inverter big battery supply and very meaty leads from the battery to the inverter and means to recharge the battery bank solar and most likely a B2 b.
So to sum up on site with a hook up just stay below the rated supply limit and use what you like. Off grid you're going to have to weigh up how important those appliances are to you bearing in mind how often you're going off grid and what you're prepared to spend.
Some have big inverters and use the lot. Some are somewhere in-between. Others like us don't bother with any mains powered stuff and use gas instead or manage without!
Enjoy the motorhome my tip would be go on site first. Then try on site without plugging in and you can give in if you want and plug in. What I personally wouldn't do is go out and spend a lot on extra solar a lithium battery or two an inverter b2b etc at a couple of thousand without thinking of the alternatives. It might be you actually decide just to use sites and the new kit hardly ever gets used!

So if I understand correctly you can run a 900w air fryer on EHU without the need for an inverter? I don't have an inverter but the misses wants to buy a 900w air fryer. If on EHU we can use? If off grid we cannot?

Essentially, yes.
