Hi Folks, we would like to spend this New year in Bruges. We've stayed at the aire, Camperplaats Bareweg, before and liked it, very convenient for Bruges and secure. We realise that we may need to arrive a day or two before New Year's Eve in order to find a space, but don't know if there is a maximum number of nights you can stay at the air. This would give us the opportunity to visit the Christmas market in Bruges and also visit Ghent by train.
I'm interested in any thoughts you may have.
Many thanks, Mike and Kath

Could email them and ask, don’t think I have seen anything about maximum stay but worst case pay and drive out then come back in again 😁😁

we stayed in the Brugge aire last year for Christmas and New year. We arrived Christmas eve with the plan to spend a couple of nights but decided to stay until the day after new years day. Experience was as follows.
We were lucky - we managed to bag one of the few large van pitches, the others were quite small for a van our size at the time (8m Hymer aclass) throughout that week there were lots of comings and goings. There were some that couldn't get a space and ended up sleeping outside the gates. Others parked in the coach park, something we have done ourselves before and changed to a camper ticket when we have gone to pay.
So lots of comings and goings, if you are patient you will not have an issue and may be lucky to get straight on. Best time from my experience was about 11 am as I spent my time like a sado looking at when most spaces were free   you know what it's like it becomes a hobby.

Enjoy, it's nice and the markets are nice but it's actually remarkable quiet for New Years eve, not a great deal goes on, but we went out for the fireworks and it was a bit more lively. Much more respectful than a load of drunks kicking off in any UK city though.

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply. I also don't recall seeing anything about a maximum stay. As you say, if there is then it would be simple to leave, pay and re-enter. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Have been there 3 times in the last 12 months and found between 10-11 seems to be when everyone moves off and if you can get a big pitch down the end happy days😁😁

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply. We are really keen to make this short trip and the comments about the best time to arrive to find a space, also the comment about using the coach park are very helpful. We liked Bruges and the Aire when we visited this autumn so we'll give a go. We've spent New Year in a few places away from home so it will be interesting to see what Bruges is like.
Thanks again, Mike & Kath

If the aire is full you could always use the coach park next door and then move if a space becomes available.
The alternative could be to go to Ghent and take the train to Bruges and do your trip that way. The Ghent site is year round and walking distance to the park n ride bus to centre. However, plan your route as Ghent has introduced a ULEZ but you can get to the site without entering the zone.

Just looked and it’s only 2 Euros more per night at the campsite and within walking distance of Bruges. Will still have a look at the aire and let you know

E is a bus service 300 meters from the gate runs every 20 mins till 8 pm
Yes I get that, however she needs a mobility scooter to spend a day out, otherwise it's a very restricted day for her, very. That's why for us the aire would be much better, middle of the town, scooter out, wife out then all day chocolate for her, beer for me :-)

Location location location😁😁
Yes, I agree. But I have never fancied the aire .
You can pre-book memling. Rather than chancing the aire when it’s busy times.

+You can get a bus into the centre of Brugge just around the corner from Memling .

We sometimes walk into the centre.

There is a cycle lane into the centre.

Taxis are not overly expensive

Works for us

We have booked the campsite for 22 to 26 with electric, it shows the further dates as fully booked until New Year’s Eve. That is for the ones with electric, if you dont select a type of pitch they have extra ones without hook up but can charge you up during the day?

Thanks for all the useful information, we'll probably head for the Aire but keep the campsite as a possible backup. We don't need a hook up so we could manage a non EHU pitch if necessary. I'd be interested in hearing how you get on.

We are planning on being in Bruges for Christmas itself , arriving 23 or 24 coming from Valkenberg in
The Netherlands.

Looking forward to it as we normally visit Bruges at least once a year, and never normally have an issue getting on the aire if you arrive the right time of mid morning.
