Parked up on a site . Nose facing off the pitch and european van so door on the drivers side same side as the electric bollard. Cant park like that, cant have exit door on same side of electric bollard.
Had to move. 2 minutes no problem glad not a tugger with awning etc.

Really? Private site or one of the clubs?

My ehu inlet is right next to the hab door on the drivers side, on my previous one it was on the opposite side, which was preferable as the lead can be out of the way.

If he/she did use the word 'exit' door what do they do with PVCs and coachbuilts, which have exit doors on both sides?

Same.

I've been on sites where you were required to be nose out.

A reasoned explanation, though I'm not sure of validity. The explanation was;

1. There was always a danger of engine fires, so nose out and danger might be observed.

2. If there were to be an engine fire it would be easier to tackle.

Personally I prefer to reverse into parking spots;

1. It makes it easier for a quick escape.

2. I'm not a good driver, so reversing in while I'm fresh and tuned in to driving is easier than reversing out to leave when I'm cold and switched off from driving.

I'm sure the rules used to be habitation doors couldn't face each other, the haven site in newquay (I think) used to make us park nose in when we used to go in our lhd coachbuilts

Love to Stay in Shrewsbury told us to park a certain way. All doors must be on the left looking at the pitch they said. Annoying as our friends were next door and the doors facing each other would have been much easier.

We will follow instructions, however if its particularly irksome we will tell them on departure, why we no will longer be back and give them a poor review. It's a bit of a silly rule, it's your pitch, pitch for the sun or the view I say.

Our van is rear high so we park whichever way gets us level if the pitch is sloping at all. Nothing like rolling into the overhead cab area 😂😂 Also European model so we do try to not park too close to someone else’s hab door.

The C&MC specifically state in their rules you can park nose or tail in as long as you are between the posts. I have come across very few places that care one way or the other.

On one private site I was told I was parked the wrong way round because my door was on the wrong side and I refused to move it. They then offered me a much nicer pitch where I could park “without causing a problem to other customers” which I accepted only because it was a much nicer pitch. They were of course talking a load of dangly bits and need to wake up to the modern world where there isn’t a wrong side to have a door.

When marshalling a rally, I think most of us try to get everyone's habitation doors facing the same way, but if people want to be face to face that's fine provided that both parties accept, and we maintain the line of vans.

If on a site with decent size pitches, why does it matter?

Thinking about it, one small site in Cornwall insist you park nose out so everyone can get out easily in an emergency.

Privacy for everyone mainly. Other factors are dogs, sun, prevailing wind etc. it also means roadways for early exits are available.

Well, if the site owner decides these are the rules then these are the rules.

Don’t like it, don’t go back.

Should have said it’s all the other vans that are parked the wrong way…😆

I did have this in wales last year, they said I was the wrong way round, I looked around and was the only van with 20 empty pitches either side…🤣 I said ok I’ll move it tomorrow when I’m leaving …😎👋🏼👋🏼

When we had our site, our site licence had lots of conditions. One of which was the implementation of the local Fire Brigade review of safety. This said that for ease of evacuation in an emergency, all non-motorised vehicles ie caravans, trailer tents had to be pitched tow bar out. Some folk used to moan but that’s just the way it was.

That at least makes sense. I suspect that it's Tue for the site I mentioned.

I always ask if they require me to pitch facing in a particular way, most say either way as long as the hab door is in the centre of the pitch. I think if you're on an awning pitch at CAMC they will require you to pitch facing so that the awning is in the alloted space for it.
