New model launched by Poessl/Globecar - Roadstar/Globestar 640 SG

Might suit some who don't want a shower (it is still possible as an optional plug in extra) & want more seating. There are doors that close on the bathroom but looks very snug!

How do you relax of a night sitting in the front, it looks very cramped.

That looks like a well designed PVC - very nice indeed(y)

The design is causing a lot of reaction with regards to the bathroom/kitchen layout on German forums - it will be launched & price announced at the upcoming Dusseldorf Show. Their target audience is those who use campsites & rarely use their toilet or shower & want more living space. Like other makes they are trying to show innovation to gain more sales.

There is an optional shower pack available which fits into the drain between the loo and the kitchen, however, apparently their customers have told them they rarely shower in the van

Our favourite models are the Summit range Broken Link Removed & the Globestar/Roadstar 640 DK Broken Link Removed as a good shower is one of our priorities but as every one has different requirements can see this might suit some & good to see some different designs being tried in van conversions :)

If the Promobil article translates correctly there are only 3 belted seats & no option of an extra bed but again that's not necessarily an issue for some potential owners but may be limiting when it comes to resale.

I guess this is the evolution of the Globecar 'shower in the corridor' layout. But that still has a door to separate you from the kitchen area.

If my van had that arrangement, I don't think I'd ever use the shower or loo. May as well take them out entirely.

I'm guessing that the double tambour washroom doors will be phased out eventually.

Having had these for a few years now, how are Globecar (and Adria) PVC owners getting along with double tambour doors? Any problems?

This is heading in the right direction for me. We have a Globecar but would like a bit more comfort in the front, that seems to be addressed here.

I look forward to seeing it.

No room to relax in the front and a huge washroom with no shower . I would have thought a pretty pointless layout did they lost the second page of the requirements!

I think this layout is great. Get up in the morning, shower, grab a bite and go out or pack to move on. In the evenings, go out exploring. Come back late, bite to eat and go to bed. Minimal 'stopped' time in the van, so why waste space?... Different people have different wants.

To true and anyway who could stand lounging around surrounded by all that fake wood:D2

We would go with tambour door arrangement again
Gives you far more room than the shower in most PVC
Cant see them disappearing anytime soon
They are also used on a number of other European makes that we don't see over hear.
Manufactures keep bring out different designs some catch on some don't

As well as the light oak (Eiche Kupfer Bora) interior wood option on H Line models spotted that there are a range of optional interior colours on D Line models but haven't seen many photos online but "Silver" option photos here Broken Link Removed
Full interior option details on the German 2019 price list - top of page 7 for interiors.
Don't have a link for the UK price list as not found it online.

Nice vans Karen but I still think the Summit 600/640 are the ones to beat

Can anyone tell me please what the difference is between the Summit 640 and the Campscout also 6.4 m. I am looking at the models with the fixed single type beds. Thanks

There is no similarity apart from the look of the vehicle from the outside.

The Campscout is a D-Line model built in one factory and the Summit is an H-line built in a totally seperate factory.

The design, colours, electrics, equipment, style between the two are completely different in every way

I even commented the other day on the Globecar section of this forum that the only obvious similarity between the two was the Globecar name.

Both are popular & well regarded so really down to personal choice - we really like the clever bathroom on the Summit but had to wait 9 months & import one! D Line models like the Campscout are much more readily available in the UK than H Lines like the Summit.

I hadn’t actually heard of the Summit until I was looking at a bit of the Globecar section, I had seen the Campscout and decided the 6.4m version seemed the sort of thing we were looking for. Going to have to find Summit now. Presume from the above comment that they are not so readily available in the U.K. does that make them more expensive?

I'm not sure if our 640 is the only one in the country or if SMC imported another one last year.

Like every German van the main challenge is trying to understand the spec list - it's not easy. We were lucky inasmuch as SMC imported a model with all of the upgrades fitted.

That said, we did buy a Growler to look after the van. Here's a pic of our Growler alarm :D
