Time to broaden your horizons - go do the Italian Lakes. The Italians know how to do proper lakes :-)

The lakes may well be good, but went on a MSC cruise ship owned by Italian company, and found the Italians bombastic, pushy, pompous, and will not queue for anything, they put articles on seats not allowing you to sit down, meal times was a stampede, and for that reason I would not recommend Italy

So you went on a cruise ship, did not like the Italians on it therefore you cannot recommend Italy.
