enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
I've just been sent the following info -

A new range of Fogstar Batteries will soon be available in 280/300/460/560/24v, they will contain a JBD 300A cont discharge, RS485/CAN inputs, Metal case, Victron Integration, on/off switch and will have an Active Balancer input (input because no battery with decent cells needs a permanent Active Balancer or it just drains the battery).

I have no financial or other interests in Fogstar, I am just passing on the information I have been sent by Becs

300 Amp continuous discharge is massive for me. i did have issues with my previous inverter in terms of it not giving me what i thought i wanted (LOL) and have now fitted a Renogy 3000w inverter. when i checked the BMS on my 300AH fogstar i was pulling around 150A using my microwave and kettle at the same time. The spec tells me it can produce 200A continuous power.

Bearing in mind i had my microwave power 'reduced', it looks like i needn't have bothered if i had a new Fogstar battery coupled to the Renogy inverter

I am thinking of going for the 460ah, would be interesting to see if there is any change in price to go with this.
How would the victron integration work?

If balancer is permanently active, it’s not good. It needs to be activated by something, only on set values. You want the active balancer to kick in no earlier than 3.4vpc or better at 3.45vpc. Then you want a voltage difference trigger as well. Some set this as low as 3mv, but 5mv i think is better.
JK has all this settings within the bms. Active means it can balance during charge, standby, and discharge if set values are met. Also, it does not waste the power, discharges the high cell onto a capacitor, then it charges onto low cell. This is very efficient compared to resistor bleeders.
Why fogstar does not use JK bms in their batteries is beyond me.
