I am in my 80s and yesterday had a new experience. There is a MH connection if you wait.

We are buying a house in Poland and the law here requires that the contract is signed in front of a Notary.

So yesterfay we and the sellers attended the Notary's office. The procedure was quite a Show. The Notary checked everyone's ID card, read the whole contract(5 pages) out loud and asked the parties at each stage whether the information was correct - some amendments were necessary. The information included everybody's equivalent of N.I. number, the bank account for payment, and could have included waist sizes for all I know. That all took over an hour, then the contract went for amendment, was returned and finally signed by both parties and the Notary, then stamped. Basia as buyer then had to pay £500, including Notary's fee.

I am not a party to this purchase - it will be wholly in Basia's name, but as an English lawyer I went along out of interest. I found it long-winded compared with the English Law procedure where the seller and buyer exchange contracts and sign by post, or electronically and that is it.

The whole show took just under 2 hours. This process was just for the agreement to pay the 15% initial payment and will have to be repeated for the final payment towards the end of March, a date mutually agreed since we are in no hurry to move and they are finishing building new.

So what is the MH connection you ask?

The property is 3-bed, on two floors plus a basement with wet room, boiler etc. PLUS one garage 12m x 4m x 4m, large enough for any MH I might have, and a two-car garage, both with inspection pits. There is also a yard big enough to take 3 more MHs. and electric gate.

Motorhome paradise!

I Spent many a happy hour at various Notary offices in Poland when I lived out there, relied on local management team to tell me what was going on, just remember signing endless document after document. House sounds fabulous, perfect for the van, we always regret renting and not buying in Warsaw.
