I am due to pick up my new burstner in the next couple of weeks. I presume the 2 yr warranty covers you for things that stop working / break etc but that you need to buy separate breakdown insurance. The five year warranty I presume covers water ingress but that's about it.

If it does breakdown does it have to go to a Burstner / fiat dealer or can it be taken to any garage and then claimed back?

Is the above a reasonable summary or have I miss-understood the web site?

My understanding is as follows:

Habitation side of the vehicle is covered by Burstner with a two year warranty, which covers anything to do with Burstner construction of your vehicle. Burstner also provide a 5 year warranty for water ingress therefore, covering you for any damp issues for an additional 3 years after the comprehensive 2 year warranty has expired.

Anything relating to the vehicle as it was when it left the Fiat factory is covered by Fiat, under their own two year warranty. Included with this, is comprehensive breakdown cover and on calling the number provided with the handbook, they will no doubt take you to the nearest Fiat Professional garage if enable to repair at the roadside.

Never thought that the cover might come via Fiat - and yes you are spot on there is a comprehensive 2 year warranty including roadside assistance - which is great as it has saved me paying for it via my insurer - THANK YOU!!!

If it is Fiat Camper assist and it is a continental built van imported by a UK dealer and first registration in the UK then the camper assist is for 3 years not 2. It does state this in the camper assist handbook, hidden away in small print but a 3rd year.

Yep I had noticed the difference between the UK and France in terms of coverage :( Mine will be a French vehicle first used and registered in france. But then the vehicle is rather a lot cheaper than an equivalent UK vehicle so wont be complaining!

Well I am just having my wheels replaced for the spidering effect and the vehicle is between 2 and 3 years old. I had always understood the Burstner warranty to be 3 years?
