Have had an Adria twin on order since October and delivery date has moved back three times. Now being told it’s due to arrive 10th June fingers crossed. Dealer now telling me it will be 3 weeks ( no guarantee)to register the van before I can take delivery! Never had this before . Is this normal or just something to do with my particular dealer ?

Seems some dealers can register on line and others have to do it by post. I think it may be something to do with CoC but I wouldn’t swear to that.

Perfectly normal. My Malibu Van came through in 2 weeks a few weeks ago but DVLA guidance is 3 weeks. Both manufacturer and dealer need to be registered for online registration system and it probably does not add up for most motorhome sales.

Same with mine in 2021. The dealer explained they were not registered with DVLA to process online as they don’t have the required volume so had to do it paper based. Of course that could be rubbish, it was during Covid when all sorts of excuses were made up (and still continue) where common sense doesn’t seem to apply any more.

I have bought 3 new motorhomes over recent years and all of them have required paper applications for registration. The first 2 took 3 weeks the latest one only 2 weeks. The online system is known as the RaV Service (Register a Vehicle) and this involves the manufacturer uploading the VIN and details into the system. The dealer can then activate the registration online. However both the manufacturer and the dealer have to be signed up to the system which from my experience with new motorhomes is not usually the case.

I got my registration number 2 weeks before I took delivery (while the van was in transit to theUK). The paperwork was all done online on day of collection, I was given a "confirmation of registration". The V5 arrived in the post a week later.

My dealer, Peter Roberts at Huddersfield registered my Adria Twin on the morning I collected it in July 2022, as I was driving there, and he sent me the confirmation email. I believe he has registered with DVLA to be able to do this & bought the software or whatever us needed to do so.

My friends who bought from Wandahomes had to wait weeks, six/eight I think, back in August 2021 for it to be done by post and then it came back registered initially on 1/9 which meant he missed out on the Fiat extended warranty needed to be bought within 15 days of first reg until Fiat gave him some leeway. His actual van arrived in the July! but possible some clerical errors in there too be the dealer I seem to recall.

Thanks for info. Seems it all depends upon the size of the dealer and if he is registered with dvla to do it electronically.interesting point about the Fiat extended warranty as I am considering doing this so will raise the potential issue with the dealer.Previous van purchased new was registered on line immediately which made life simpler,It’s unfortunate that dealers are not upfront about the potential delay as if I had known probably would have gone to a dvla dealer subject to the deal. Knowledge for the future!

I bought the extended Fiat warranty as soon as the motorhome dealer submitted the registration documents. You only need the VIN and the dealer can give you this because they will have used it on the registration documents. I did it on the phone through Adams Morey (023 9269 1122), Jo had it all sorted very quickly and the guarantee kicked in for 5 years from the date of registration. Only a Fiat Professional can sort this out and you need the Camper Warranty not the Commercial Vehicle one. I strongly recommend talking to Jo Collinson at Adams Morey.
