Never mind solar, how about guttering?

As I listen to the rain relentlessly bouncing off the roof, I wonder if anyone has considered harnessing rainwater directly into their fresh water tank?
Might be an issue for Spain but definitely NOT for UK :cry:

We ve been back 9 days, pretty sure every single day has seen some rain.

I was talking to a bloke the other day who has a rain gauge and he reckons there have only been three days since the beginning of last September when it hasn't shown some rain.

Long distance sailers nearly always collect rain water when they can. And it would save driving to the nearest tap or carting water to the van.
Plus, according to current and recent bad water events, its likely to be safer.

Fella on another forum who lived in, created an easy collection system with filter and all sorts, was quite good, in the end he had it running direct into his tank. He didn't drink it but did when boiled in brews.
Seemed the worst part was keeping debris out of it.

Makes some sense for flushing and dishes etc. not sure how you'd get on with the truma etc though if you have one

In the UK, we already have most of our rainwater all our waste water and sewage collected from us and have it all recycled, filtered and cleaned before it's returned back to us, sometimes in pristine condition .....

As we have septic tanks at home, we get to use everyone else's recycled water, so thank you for your contributions......?? 😀

Hmmme, having seen some van roofs in photos I'd be a bit sceptical. Put that " run off fresh water" into your tank and the tank will need considerable and frequent de-gunging.

Everywhere in the UK, from Worcestershire down to Lands End had 2 1/2 times the 'average rainfall' from Jan 1st. to 1st May.
Dartmoor had over 1800mm of rain (near enough 6ft.) during this period.
