We're visiting Amsterdam in May for a few day, staying at the Amsterdam Camp then onto Gouda for a day, then Delf for 2 days, then heading back to the Chunnel and have 2 days spare. Looking for recommendations of what to see, where to stay on the way back. :)

Hi David, can recommend camping http://www.delftsehout.co.uk/, very convenient to walk or cycle into Delft, easy train link to Rotterdam, we loved the modern food market.

For your spare 2 days we enjoyed Camping Jachthaven Uitdam. A bit expensive site but a lovely waterside spot, we cycled to Marken and then took small boat to Volendam and cycled up to Edam.

Visit the Hague - Den Haag, very interesting place. Beach if it's nice, good museums if it's not!

Hi David. Gouda has an Aire and it's only a 5 minute walk to the town centre.

Its only 8 euros and has all the normal facilities.
Oudewater is also a pleasant place to visit. Our blog post has our time in both Gouda and Oudewater. In Oudewater there is a free Aire very close to the town. It has no facilities but is very quiet. last time we stayed there we were on our own. The time before there was only one other motorhome.

You dont have much time so I will also recommend one other place Monnickendam. Not far from Amsterdam, we found a park easily and spent the day there.

My final suggestion is Dordrecht. There are three aires there but one has only 2 places and it is always full. The one next to the replica of Noahs Ark has 12 places. This town is well worth a look but then again I am a little bit biased as it was where I was born.

Enjoy your trip to the Netherlands. Cheers Ewout

A debrief on our recent trip to Holland. Crossed over on Euro tunnel, free curtesy of Tesco. 1st night Gravelines, the free Aire at the Water Sports Centre, lovely and quite, shared it with 3 others Motorhomes. Then on to the Amsterdam Camp, for 3 nights pricey and crowded with limited wifi but only a 15 min walk to the free ferry to the centre of the City. On to Gouda for one night, this is a lovely little town with loads to do and see, parked in the dedicated Motorhome area of the car park for 8 euros a night, EHU if you need it free on Sundays but the machine only takes coins, free wifi at the Library adjoining the car park which has a very nice coffe shop and nice toilets. 5 mins walk into town. Next we went to Delft, Delftse Houst, for 3 nights a nice site with the usual facilities 20 mins walk into town. Visited Middelburg for 1 night next via the coastal road, a free Aire with 5 dedicated Motorhome bays which were taken when we arrived so we parked at the back of the car park with 30 other Motorhomes, very quite and 20 mins walk into town. Our last night back at the Gravelines Water Sport Center free Aire. The only place we couldn't use our Clarity card was the Aire at Gouda, the card was excepted everywhere else in Holland, shops, fuel, restaurants, museums and coffee shops. Italy next month. :)
