I have a bad back.
In the MH I have a duvalay which is extremely comfortable but when we are away elsewhere I always take a single inflatable mattress I bought cheaply from Amazon several years ago.
Can anybody recommend an up to date inflatable mattress that might be more comfortable than the cheapo one I've got. Remember it's got to fit into a airline cabin bag without taking up too much room.
Thanks in hope!

I've never seen the thermarest before, but it could be what I've been looking for

I bought a coleman inflatable mattress for camping on my motorbike and I found it was as comfortable as my home bed. I think th etrick is not to have the pressure too high.

I have back trouble on and off and was also going to suggest a self inflating mattress (autocorrect just changed that word to actress...!) as we used to use them for camping.
They have foam inside so don't go as small as a blow-up bed, and you don't need to blow them up, you just open the valve and they self-inflate.
In fact the hard part is getting the air out again - it usually took 2 goes to get them rolled up small again.

A thermarest auto inflating mattress is light and extremely comfortable.
I used to one of these (very expensive) items for motorcycle camping, it was fine if you slept on your back, but it was very thin, about 2 inches.

I have a tendency to roll onto my side when asleep so ended up effectively laying on the floor, unless inflating it too hard... I ended up using a 5 inch thick inflatable mattress... on a softer setting.

Not very eco friendly, but if going to a holiday destination type place, then you could buy a beach lilo there and donate when you leave?

I used to do that 20 years ago, lilos are extremely uncomfortable slightly more comfortable than sleeping on the floor.
What I have presently is about 3 times as comfortable as a lilo, I'm hoping to find something at least 5 times as comfortable. The thermarest sounds like the best and smallest packed so far

Thanks for everyones help and recommendations, I've bitten the expensive bullet and bought a Thermarest NeoAir Xlite NXT RW.
If it does the job then will be worth every penny of the £170 it cost, otherwise there will be a cheap 2nd hand one for sale in the classifieds in the near future
