Need a coded key fob - how much????

I don’t know what your key is like but when I had to get a new fob for my Peugeot 107, it was cheap and you had to take immobiliser part out of original fob

Find a local locksmith, many of them are able to do this sort of thing.

Why are you needing to replace the key? Is it the usual VW problem of the key blade shearing off? If so, you can get replacement key bodies on eBay and swap the electronics over. I had the replacement key blade cut at a locksmiths and sapped the inners over.

Think yourself lucky you haven't got a Ducato they are about £320.

If you can live without the remote you can get a key cut & programed for about £80 people like Timpsons do them but the can't do ones with remote.

In November before heading off I got a key cut at Timpsons as mentioned by others above.
It cost £90 for one or £140 for two but they have to have access to the vehicle ignition to do it.In Dumfries it's next to Tesco so easy access for the van.

Cheers Cris 🍻

There is a company in Taunton I used a few years ago on a Ducato, it was then about £140. Can't remember the name but someone quoted them on this forum recently

If you're anywhere near Carlisle, try this guy. He used to be based in a portacabin next to the old Homebase store when he cut and programmed a key/fob for my Renault Master, but is now based round the corner on the industrial estate. He's less than 5 minutes from Jct 44 off the M6.

Thinking about this, when I had my Ducato stolen, I had two sets of fully programmed keys left over, the thieves didn't seem to need them. So those keys must have the internal electronics that could be recoded!? Then it's just the shaft that needs recutting ?

Lenny, with Timpsons, it depends on the shop you go to, not all are trained up to do the coding but each will tell you the nearest shop that can. 👍🏻

Hi Kenny.
My Ducato only came with one when I bought it.
Got a local auto key guy to come and do me another.
Cost £225, but that was 3 years ago.

Problem with many of the shops is getting the van to them as they need the vehicle, the existing key, and time to program it all.

The one I used was trained up but still couldn't get it to work! From what he said it's a bit pot luck with different years of the same vehicle. I was actually quite pleased I was getting a new key because I'd lost one but after paying timpsons for a new one it turned up. As they couldn't get the new one to work they refunded me!

If the electronics have gone you need a mobile locksmith to come out to read the vans code.

Contact Cumbria Car Keys on 01768 780 941 or 07527 571 113, and we'll come direct to you, wherever you are in Cumbria. LOST YOUR KEYS? I'll open your car and decode the lock, then cut a new key for you, and programme
