Hi, my near side brake light on my ford transit isnt working. Ive changed the bulb but had no joy. The light element is working fine. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks

Next step is to see if it has a 12v supply whilst pedal is pressed, then if it has a good negative.

Have you got a tow bar? Just had same problem, large connector box underneath van at rear, took cover off looked like a trapped wire, put cover back on, working ok since

Don’t rule anything out, check with the multi meter and see if you’ve got power at the light socket. If there’s no one around to help press the brake pedal, then ignition on, not engine running and use a brolly or something to press the pedal (you can slide your seat to suit). If no power, then it’s time to investigate I’m afraid.

Don‘t underestimate anything, as my near side lights went out and this is what I eventually found. Replaced the wire and worked a treat.

Will do, no tow bar. Ill clean all of the contacts first. Wont know where to start when inspecting the wires though.

My rear light cluster and high level marker light ceased to function on my last van. I spent ages trying to track the fault, but eventually took it to an auto electrician who traced it to the wiring harness, that involved removing the cab step to find where it exited the chassis. Some dear little friends had made a snug home and had a midnight feast which included the wiring harness on that side.
It has been a regular happening, with the coil packs cables and battery leads on my car and various tools in our workshops destroyed.
We are at a loss of how to get rid of them.
