I'm a newbie
Question for anyone who's visited the February show at the NEC. Will i be able to view used, Adria, Chausson,Auto- Trail and Bailey ?. Or will they just have new models please

It will be new motorhomes. I've never seen used on display at the NEC.
I was hoping to have the opportunity to compare the fit quality of used vans from several makes all in one place . Would new models reflect this or would they be so different from used as to not be relevant , do you think?.

If you want used you want one of the Warners shows really.

But to be honest motorhomes are such a small market nationionally we found even with a major model we'd identified as wanting (layout wise) only 2 dealers nationwide had stock avialable for purchase, second hand or new. If you factory order a new one, many dealers can deal with that, if you want actual stock, you need to check autotrader or similar and search for stock, then visit the dealer with the model;

If you want to see a large variety of layouts, you may as well go to the NEC as anywhere, as the current (new) model designs are much the same as last year, with some tweaks obviously. (and if you want actual available to buy now stock just then search for 2023-2024 models already in stock).

We ended up going to a Warners show, finding the layout we liked after visiting all the vans, then buying from a private dealership about 8 weeks later. We initially went to a dealer and fell in love with a. model which when we visited Warners show to compare with different models, we realised it wasn't as perfect and another maker offered a nicer layout, and it was about 15k less too (and 3 years newer).

(You'll also see at a Warners show what a 2 year old van will scrub up like compared with new).

Should say the National warners show usually has the best stock and is the one we visited when it was back in Peterborough 2 years ago: https://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/shows/national-motorhome-campervan-show

Quite a few of us on here stay at the shows for the weekend so you can see an owners van if you ask nicely too usually on here. (I'm at campervan campout at start of season).

it depends a lot on how used the van you are looking to buy is. Probably only be a few tweaks and colour changes etc. if you are looking for a 2-3 year old one but if you want something 10 years old it's going to be hard to do comparisons. Also the chassis vehicle could have changed. Good luck with your quest.

Go on the last day of the show to get an idea on quality of fittings. Often the less well built ones will be showing signs of wear with doors broken and other issues. Dealers will also be keen to shift stock they have on the pitch back home so if you like a model but budget says pre owned ask them if they have any stock back at base. We did exactly that back in 2019 and got a brand new. unregistered 2018 van with 20% off list. You may have to travel a distance to see the van but it may stack up for you. Good luck.

I wouldn't bother with the February show, unless you really do like looking at tents and caravans. The motorhome turnout at that feb show is always a bit naff. The October show is a bit better, but not much. If you want to see used vans go to a Warners outside show, if you want to see all the new van offerings, (apart from the Brit crap that don't dare exhibit) then go to Duseldorf

As far as the NEC shows go, we go to both shows as it always depends on what you want to see, we only look at motorhomes, zero interest in tents and the like but thats all fine as the tenties go to differant halls and leave more space for us, we are always there at 10am and almost never leave much before 6pm kicking out time, i like looking round the gadgets and tech, we have brekky when we get there and get the map out and plan the day. Its a fun day out with no agenda. Same as motorhoming eh?

While on the subject of NEC, what is the advantage of taking the motorhome there ? always wondered, aside from the dubious advantage of nipping back for a cheap cuppa... i think it was about 40 quid with no water or drainage or EHU ? UNLESS you can stop over night and do the show again the following day ? I cant find any mention of it now - have they stopped it ? i see designated parking for motorhomes now mentioned, and cynical old me wonders if this mentioned special carpark is at the back of beyond somewhere needing hiking boots, a torch and some sandwiches. We rarely use the free buses as while its a great idea its always so packed we find we walk as its often quicker, just what you need after walking round the show all day but hey ho :giggle:
