NC500… Anyone had problems with the dreaded midges?

It's a time of year thing. Did the 500 over 2 weeks in June. Not a midge anywhere (except Dumfries, oddly).

Yes, it happens.

It is not, however, a reason to, strategically, change your plans. Tactically, yes, but strategically, no. 👍

June-August are the worst months. May is best month weather wise and would be my compromise.

We did it in August and it was fairly windy and not a midge in sight, even squished on the windscreen.

We took the sexy anti-midge hats and never needed them.

We went in August (due to being restricted to school holidays at the time) and we were only bothered in one place - I think it was Ullapool.
