I received my National Trust AGM email today.

What did you request and if lots of us asked the same question it might make a difference?

I have mixed feelings about this. I've been a member for a long time and was interested to see the Overnighting Trials implemented in 2020 in various locations, mostly the Lake District. However it was pretty much immediately abused, and there were endless online complaints from people who didn't want to pay an overnight charge, and further complaints from those saying that grey/black disposal and water should be provided, despite the fact that all the Trial places were CAR PARKS, NOT SITES.

The difficulty with rolling this out is that unfortunately the negative impact is often shown to outweigh the positive. I was somewhere just last weekend where in a small car park two large motorhomes were parked sideways, each taking up a number of spaces. Between the two of them they occupied half of the available parking for that particular venue. One had left by the time we got back to our vehicle, but the other was clearly set up to stay the night.

I hear your point, but you cite just 2 cases out of how many MH's on the uk roads, The majority of us do and would abide by any rules laid down, so can we please concentrate on the positives of this and not the actions of a very small minority, who in my mind should be confronted when they disregard any rules which would benefit the majority.
Thanks
Joe

You have to accept in this country that the majority means nothing. Hence in 10 years time people will still be moaning about that vote.
If only one person objected, in the national trust, that’s the one they listen to.
We stayed at one in the lakes in May. Nothing but a car park but as members was charged £10. The warden said they have no choice but to charge everyone. Otherwise it’s not fair. Well that amount is to much for a car park with no service in my opinion so we will not renew until they change that stance.

My first paragraph was the key point, which Fragle just demonstrated!
I would love to overnight at NT places but I can completely understand why they aren’t very keen.
