Just been to Narbonne aire and it's no longer there. All dug up

When we drove past a couple of weeks ago they were just erecting screens around the site. We had seen tree cutting going on and thought it was just getting a makeover.

Richard.

Funny you should say that, when we drove past a few weeks ago, we never saw it, thought we might have missed it, ;) but then we would have if It wasn't there. Bob.

Which one is this, I'm confused. Is it the one in the town itself or the area next to the sea over the sand dunes?

Narbonne is about six miles inland so not too many sand dunes there. :D
You are thinking of Narbonne Plage or Gruissan. (y)
The Narbonne aire was by the big retail park where Carrefour etc are and just off the motorway on the edge of town.

Richard.

On this trip We have found a lot of Aires are closed down or simply not there anymore or they have erected barriers and charge 10 or more euros.
It would look like the Aires we know are slowly getting done away with.
Although there are loads of laybys and village greens and car parks where you can still stay, although unofficial no one bothers you.

Yes its the Narbonne Plage one I'm thinking of. I Didn't like the one in the town, really felt caged in, we ended up there after being asked to leave the plage due to the possibility of sea coming over/in because of a big storm when we were there in December a couple of years ago. it was late at night so just needed to get into somewhere close by. Much preferred the Plage aire, we where the only ones there.
