Namibia. Desolation and remote isolation. 1 week to go. 3 weeks searching for desert elephants

You won’t need 3 weeks to find them, a good guide will find them straight away, which I assume you know. Is it a particular study? Did you arrange it all yourself or are you going with an operator? The desert lions are also amazing to see in such a desolate landscape. Namibia is one of my favourite places to visit, spectacularly beautiful. Currently trying to get my partner and son to agree to going next year rather than a more traditional holiday. Have a great time, I’m envious 👍

Lived in the far south west of Namibia in the 70s.
Seen the Namaqualand daisies on a number of occasions.
Loved it down there but never got anywhere near the dessert.

We are doing it with Great Road Journeys

Lived in the Bush in S.A for a while, took some time to get the eye in looking for Elephants.
Would never have believed it that they can disappear from view so close!

I think I chatted with them at the recent Destinations travel show. Unfortunately for me their trip next year doesn’t coincide with my son’s school holidays. Looking at your itinerary on their website if you get the chance when you’re at Sossusvlei do the balloon trip at sunrise over the dunes. When we set off there was lightening in the distance but thankfully that didn’t get any closer. Sunrise picked out the textures and colours of the dunes and gave you a real feel for the expanse of the desert. It was an experience I’ll never forget.

Hi

We are on our own. We don’t use guides, I was born and brought up out here so finding them is easy

The is near the Huab before it exists into the Atlantic
