Dethleffs Advantage
Hello all!

We have a 2006 dethleffs advantage built on the last of the X244 Ducatos.

The Ducato manual says this space is where am optional alarm 'LED active' light should be, but instead I have this mysterious switch.

I've tried it on and off mains, with 12v system active, with ignition and engine on/off and still have no idea what it's supposed to do.

Suggestions welcome!

Power switch for parking sensors? I have one fitted to turn off the system when driving because as you apply the brake the sensors become active. Not factory fitted after market fit.

Ah that's interesting, I'll have to try a careful reverse (I mean, a regular reverse) with that on and listen. Great suggestion!

is the the bike loop for a vanbiz alarm or to put your radio on using the leisure batteries rather than starter battery

I also have a dash switch on my 2007 Ducato which seemed to do nothing. I have been told, but keep forgetting to try it as I rarely drive at night these days, that, instead of the lights going off when I turn off the ignition, if I put this switch on, the parking lights will stay on????🤷‍♂️

While I remember it, I'm off to try it???

No! mine has nothing to do with lights OR radio???? I even looked in the vehicle manual, one cannot ask more of any man!

I have same switch on mine.Aftermarket fitting. Switches power on to leisure battery for radio when ignition off.

I have the same, for the radio to work from leisure and not cab battery

Intriqued why parking sensors would be activated by brakes??

A bike alarm is a good shout. I'll reach out to vanbitz and see if they recognise this particular switch. Heck they might even have a record of a sale for this van reg.

Weird, that. I thought it was more of a Clive.

Thanks to others who suggested a starter/leisure battery control for the stereo. Nope it has no effect in this case!

Wrong wiring source, I would have thought. I need mine before I touch the brakes!

It appears that when the vehicle is out of range of an object with the parking system switched on, it goes into standby and the display screen is off. If I select reverse it walks up the system, the display comes on and operates as normal. There are front sensors fitted as well, which when driving forward the system is activated by the initial application of the brake pedal, this can be a pain the in rear in stop start traffic, so I use the switch to turn off the whole system when not required. I hope that helps with understanding my system and why I mentioned it to the op.

My van failed an mot as the horn wasn't working. It turned out to be a more complicated fix than expected so I had the choice for them to add in a extra button to work the horn rather than try and fix the original horn switch.

I suppose your switch could have been that at some point but it being a rocker type makes me think not.

Seriously, the switch on my dash controls the radio when the ignition is off.
Us too.
The previous owner had it fitted. Useful, for example, when travelling and navigator stays in car to listen to ‘The Archers‘ and you need to take the key out to brave the blizzard, open the fuel lid (with the key) and half freeze to death putting in 73 litres with the world’s slowest pump. Then you stagger back in, forget to switch off the rocker switch and run the battery down when parked up. 😂

If you've got a Vanbitz strikeback alarm system....chances are the rocker switch is for the bike loop.

On my earlier X244 (2002), Vanbitz put the switch in the glove compartment. You should have the bike loop which plugs into a standard caravan plug at the rear of the van.

Hahaha yessss I love the idea of being so furious at something on the road that the horn needs its own cruise control switch

I have the same switch on my Ducato AT and it turns on the main entertainment screen, bit it also activates the screen for the rear camera.

Mines in a cupboard where the main fuse box is situated.
