Mystery Switch

Can anyone enlighten me as to what this switch does ? It looks like a upside down van ! There is nothing in the Mercedes hand book and when pressing in daylight nothing happens but doing the same at night there was a crack and the instrument panel light fused ! (not trying that again) Is it something carried over from a Sprinter Van ?

Not a standard Sprinter switch, well not on our Frankia which is built on a 416 CDI platfrom. I can confirm it's upside down - most likely fitted by a previous owner but as to what it does, only he'll know. You could try contacting the previous owner - details are on V5C. I contacted the previous owner to ask some questions - he was happy to help.


Unless it's the opposite of James Bond's ejector seat and drops the passenger out through the floor

I would say it’s in upside, if you careful with a screwdriver pop it and turn it over, I’ve got the 680 but I haven’t got one of those, sorry, when turned over it would point to the roof area, possibly some lighting

Had similar on my range rover to lift suspension assuming as #bigalw35 says it's upside down.

You could try contacting the previous owner - details are on V5C. I contacted the previous owner to ask some questions - he was happy to help.

Nowadays you only get to see previous owner details on log book from a private sale, not if you’ve purchased from a dealer. Always worth a look through any bill receipts etc for previous owners details.

It flips the van onto its back so you can check the underneath.

I thought it was when van is on its room and then it's the right way up, then press and it would flick it back onto it wheels.
