I recently purchased a Mango Toll Tag as they were on offer a few months ago and as my Sanef and Bip & Drive were coming up for battery renewals i liked the idea of just having 1 tag to cover France/Spain/Portugal. Previously my Sanef toll tag has been problematic on when and where it works when using in France and it then the Bip & Drive started to play up in Spain as well (not battery related at that point). Our unit is almost certainly to blame as its not designed for it so this is to be expected but i was surprised by how well the Mango one did in both Spain and France.
Our setup is a Tag Axle Rapido A Class which is 8.5m in length and with the various bits and bobs on the roof we are around 3.1 - 3.2mm in height, we also tow a small single axle car trailer making a combined total of 4 axles
We went away on 16 December to southern Spain on the Portsmouth - Santander boat, the Mango tag worked flawlessly on all tolls within Spain and not a single toll failed to work, coming back we had to reroute and drive through France as our boat was delayed by a day due to bad weather and with no guarantee that it would sail then either and me needing to be back at work France was the only option. I always chose the toll lane that had the 30mph limit when passing through and all opened with no issues. There were over a dozen tolls coming through France and all worked flawlessly which i am really surprised at given that i expected this to only work occasionally, it certainly made for a better journey and made it a little quicker and less stressful.
For me i would not be without it, now just need to go and purchase some angle mort stickers as i was not planning going through France so never had any but will now carry some just in case, i didn't get stopped but then i did drive the whole stretch in 1 day (not recommended of course) so maybe luck more than anything else.
Caught the P&O ferry back which was still expensive at £241 one way but a lot cheaper than the Tunnel which was just ridiculous at £467 one way. Driving through France with Boat / Diesel which for some reason is very expensive in France at over 2 euro's a litre and Toll charges for me is more expensive than going on the Portsmouth - Santander ferry despite how much i hate this one also.
Lesser of two evils but then the boat also has to run which they dont when it gets bad, oh well home now and back to reality and some sleep roll on retirement when i wont be in a hurry to get anywhere.
On a plus note the park4night app came up trumps over both search4sites and campercontact all of which i have a subscription too, when you have been driving for a very long time and want somewhere to park that is safe not caring about services those last 2 apps did not have anything nearby when stopped. Park4night however had quite a lot and we were able to find one literally 3 miles from where we were but not on a motorway aire. Not really used the P4N app till this trip but will be using it as the main app now and the others as backup.
Safe travels anyway.
