I’m a newbie
Hi

Returning from a weekend in our motorhome not long pulling out the site I went round a left hand corner about 30mph and the back end of the slid and pretty scary.

I packed the rear garage as normal and tyres are at the right pressure. Any ideas???

Thanks

What is the right pressure…?
Age, tread depth, rear wheel drive..?

Were the tyres wet, covered in mud?
Is it a front or rear wheel drive van?

Wet roads following dry period , I also suspect greasy surface, I have seen lorries totally lose traction on slight gradients due to diesel on tarmac

As long as tyres have correct pressure hopefully it’s a one off 👍

From my motorbiking days ... always be careful when it rains, especially if it hasn't rained for a time. The grease & oil on the road surface is extra slippery for a while. The grip is much better after it's been raining an hour or so.

Have you wrongly put new tyres on the front by any chance?

With the considerable weight of a coachbuilt on the rear, it's suprising you'd lose grip on a corner at such low speed ?
Is it possible it was road conditions giving the feeling of losing grip when actually you didn't ?

Sorry but I misread the title as " My Mother slid on her backend"..........
Hope you all OK.
Very scary I'm sure.

Larry beat me to it. I was going to say everyone is blaming tyres, derv, mud, grey waste but perhaps you were just going too fast for the conditions ?
Its most certain the OP was going too fast for the conditions (because he slid) but perhaps not for the conditions he could interpret (diesel on road as example)

Hi I would check the rear tyres and also the wheel nuts just to be in the safe side are both tyres on the rear the same spec and tyre pressure
I had a similar thing once and the wall of the tyre had started to break away from the bead where it attached to the rim
As above though it could have simply been road conditions but no harm in have I quick check of your tyres

Slightly different but I was approaching Kim's camping in llafranc on my bike. Bit of an uphill, weather hot and hadn't rained for weeks. Suddenly went sliding everywhere. Someone had emptied their waste all on the road. So Jockaneezer might be right.
