My Christmas gift to you all…….How to avoid the 90/180 day restriction in the EU!!

Although you say that, we were once given almost the third degree, entering the UK from Spain. How long have you been out, how long are you coming in for, etcetera, etcetera 😂 even as Spanish residents we are still UK citizens.
I felt like a criminal 😡
Had a similar experience coming - off the Ferry at Portsmouth, asked all the usual questions as well as why are you driving a French registered car. The officer then shut the window and kept me waiting for 10 minutes and causing chaos behind me as everybody tried to get in the other queu. After being 'released', I got fifteen minutes up the Dual - Carriageway when I was pulled - in by the Police; a coincidence? Licence, Insurance and vehicle document checked, no explanation when asked as to why I was stopped only It's a 'routine traffic check'.

Speaking like that they'd have no need to look at one's passport

I will stick to travelling freely with the Irish wife! 😇🤪
Just a quick question. Do you carry your marriage certificate with you on your travels? My wife has a German passport (mine is UK ) and we’ll be testing the 90/180 days travel Brexit benefit in January.

Just get a ‘French’ (European) visa and stay for 6 months…as long as you go in and out of france you’re fine, you have to prove you have €1700 per month in salary, pension, savings, stocks shares etc etc..

We do, although have never had to show it.

I also carry Spanish and French language copies of the EU 2004 directive pertaining to my wife’s right to roam and have her spouse accompany her. Never needed these either.

We have twice before the current trip (away at the moment) travelled in excess of the 90 days and numerous flights and border crossings in between.

We’ve got them too, good to hear you’ve not needed them 👍

.....

Also, at that time, one could enter UK without a passport if one could convince the Immigration Officer that one was British. I imagine that has changed.
Once, entering Stansted from Brussels, I couldn't find my passport. The immigration officer asked me whether I had any other form of identification. The only thing I could come up with was a Bishop's Stortford library ticket, the old type with no photo. He let me through. A few years ago though!

Ah, I see.

You go to France, come back out, but then dodge back in before you board the ferry!

As that blonde (?) lady sang, you will be "Lost In France" .

Mmmmm, don't think you've thought this through though.

You don't have an entry stamp, so now you are "The Prisoner of Schengen".

Roaming the continent, hanging around Aires and Stellplatzes, telling any Brit who will listen of your tale of woe, "The Rime of the Ancient Motorhomer".

But apart from that, great idea (y):unsure:
Hi.
HOW DARE YOU.... Forget Bonnie Tylers name . Santa Claus will NOT be coming to you this year.!!!
Tea Bag ( A very upset (( Emotionally  :ROFLMAO: )) Tea Bag. )

In the hope she never reads this, you can have mine! 😇

PS: you should be aware that Irish spouses are exponentially more valuable post Brexit… hope you have deep pockets for the ‘transfer fee’! 🤣
I have applied myself for a foreign birth registration (rip granny) which takes 9 months and it’s up on the 4th of Jan so I’m hoping it’s a formality then to get my own Irish passport! Ladies form an orderly queue 🤣🤣🤣

Best that I don't let my Long Haired Colonel, aka SWMBO, read this thread, then :wasntme:

The problem is not when you leave the zone having overstayed its when you try to re enter.
It's an even bigger problem if you are trying to leave the country without having 'legally entered' the country in the first place.

So if you entered legally and the French didn’t stamp your passport where do you stand? This must happen all the time surely.

I think I have a better answer but I could get banned for saying it.

In a possibly long queue trying to explain how and when you managed to get in! ;)

Even without a stamp in your passport you will be in the system somewhere. France likes details and bits' of paper, the French Doctors' are always amazed that a Brit cann't produce a vaccination card/record (Carnet de Vaccination) detailing every single injection they have had since birth.
