I will be passing through Bavaria during Munich's Oktoberfest and thought I'd stop for a bier and a wurst. Can anyone recommend a parking place for the night? Anywhere within a 45 minute train ride would be fine. Any further and I might not make it back!

Can anyone advise?
No

But given how popular the event is, the number of motorhomes in Germany, and the issue of the Germans booking up months in advance, I'd suspect any place that can be booked for a motorhome within commuting distance of Munich would have been booked up last year for this year.

Near to Munich I don´t know but the Stellplatz at Bad Aibling (near Rosenheim ) is 45 mins or so by train into Munich..

The Stellplatz App and Stellplatz Radar are worth looking at...most places in Munich will be full over that period.

I think the Octoberfest is generally overrated but that´s my opinion, the Herbsfest in Rosenheim is the 2 weeks before Octoberfest and is not so crowded, we have 1million people come rather than the 5 million in Munich.
That being said, Octoberfest is a once in a lifetime for some, so go for it..... 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻

I don't know but, why not stay at another city that has good rail connections.
In my case, I would stay near Salzburg, a city I love, and get two experiences for the price of one.
Just a thought. 👍

You also need to book tickets - in advance, to the beer halls themselves, I believe - and it is in September!

We have stayed on the Stellplatz at Garmisch-Partenkirchen and travelled in on the train. About an hour and 20 minutes. Wake up to a view of the Zugspitzand sitting at a table at midday. We love the GP area and it works for us.

There is a free stellplatz at Sulzemoos (large motorhome supplier ) north west of munich and about 50 minutes by public transport to centre of Munich. We have found that often in Germany, the off-peak group ticket (for 5 folk) can work out cheaper than buying 2 individual tickets.
