Just a tad..
Good morning

I’ve three questions please for the technical massive on here!

1) can I reset gearbox faults, parameters, clutch kiss point using Multi ECU on my Agile (Comformatic) gearbox?

2) can I code cruise control back into the ECU

3) as far as hardware is concerned, I would like to buy myself a google chrome laptop, but I need to run windows 10 to work with Multiecuscan. How can I (if indeed I actually can) run windows on a Chromebook?

I was going to buy the this, unless anyone has a better option?

Thanks in advance everyone…

Chromebooks can enable Linux. From there you could run windows as a virtual machine. You'd need a fair amount of RAM and it probably wouldn't be quick. It is possible, but it's not easy.

Would be better off with an old windows machine then!

I’ve kindly been offered a small windows laptop with a 1.66ghz processor, it seems to suggest I need 2.0ghz plus, have you any thoughts as to if a slower processor will actually work?

Thanks!

I use it on a win 11 machine and I know the one and only does as well

Thanks! Will it do the things I need to do?

Is there a better option in terms of ‘self use’ management software/hardware without getting into full blown dealer setups?

Is see you are considering a purchase from Gendan, why don’t you call them they are really helpful and will give you professional accurate information and advice.

I have multiecuscan on a win 11 laptop but can’t answer with confidence your questions.
On this occasion i agree, call gendan as some ivecos use multiecuscan and other different software. My main laptop with mes is windows 10. Have been unsuccessful with Wine and Linux.
As to other specific questions eg kiss and cruise could be alt software i know nowt about so back to gendan.
Ive used gendan 3 times for multiecuscan vcds and bits and always answer my daft and sometimes difficult questions. I look at data from other people and sometimes we have diagnosed problems with thier setups, these are mostly foreign origin so not his customers, but helps me.

Given you're playing with the ECU, you probably want to keep it simple by running a windows laptop anyway.

Processor frequency is not a good measure of speed these days. If it's less than 5 years old, you'll probably be fine. I'd suggest 8GB RAM and a SSD storage though.

Multicescan works with all the comfortmatic functions, if you have the correct leads.

Gendan are the best provider to call to ensure you get compatibility. First leads I had from the rainforest didn't work.

No idea if it will let you reprogram , add functions such as cruise controls.

The latest ducatos 2021 have some weird ODB locking thing that will stop Multicuescan working.

See other posts I'm a very novice user and only reset the oil degradation and oil service reset and that alone has paid for it

here are examples of multiecuscan v4.7 (does everything needed 2018) latest v5.1 has additional canbus stuff 3 gearboxes etc this is the simulation mode perfect for playing.

Your not having gearbox faults showing up still are you Harvey?

Occasionally yes Steve… I think it may be battery voltage related, (new cab battery will be purchased soon), but I intend to keep this vehicle long term, so I’d like to me able to manage the diagnostics of the vehicle myself.

I also want to change the hydraulic/brake fluid later in the year, so need to be able to de pressurise the system so it doesn’t blow seals at the clutch end.

I also think the gearbox could be smoother. Adjusting each gears bite/kiss point may help it a good bit.

the software you mention in op seems to be best option if it covers your model.
Just been on Iveco forums and it seems there are possible alternatives that i couldnt advice.
1 Alfaobd with BT dongle, some work if you know the ecu number and model of ducato with same ecu. (this is probably relevant to multiecuscan as well (Engine and gearbox ecus).)
2 ebay sourced chinese dongle with knock off Delphi software.
Now i have Multiecuscan and Alfaobd and live in Northampton i notice you are in Bedfordshire, if you want to come here I will happily have a play, i mean help.

That’s very kind of you! 👍🏻

The vehicle is in Southern Spain.. we are home for Christmas, but fly back down there on 1st Jan until June, so I need to ‘play’ with it myself sooner than logistics would allow me to come to you.

I actually ordered the software yesterday, just need to find a windows machine to load it on now.

Just a reminder, for MECU (Fiat etc) you need the interface cables if its not Bluetooth, they are colour coded. The ELM327 adapter I use also has its own software and has a simple setup procedure. AND don't forget while its probably possible to download the operating software license having the CD can help and for that your computer needs CD/DVD drive, not many have them these days. I use a stand alone accessory unit connected via a USB cable. You do NOT need the CD to run the diagnostics program, only to do the install if its via CD. MECU will do all the Van body diagnostics and complete such things as the proxy alignment needed when new parts are fitted, such as Airbag ECU.

I wonder if you can help me please?
I've got a 3 litre 180 engine mated to comformatic box. Looking at the service history there has been no mention of changing the DOT4 or the Dexron (it's a 2015 A class), so this really needs doing. Having never used MES before I'd really appreciate if you could give me some pointers on how to use this? If it's a lot of work for you, I'll start a new thread, it's just that you seem knowledgeable in these! Thanks

dunnah01 is probably the best placed to assist with this. I know from other posts in the various Comfortmatic threads that use of MES to reset the clutch kiss point and other maintenance is stuff that he has done.

I have the same 3.0 180 as you! I’ve been reading up more and more and hopefully leaning.

The upshot is we actually don’t have a comformatic gearbox, we actually have the Agile box. There are strong similarities except it’s all robotic electric including clutch actuation. Sadly this doesn’t make it better or indeed, more reliable. 😢

You are more 'read' than me. I've never heard of the electronic actuation and only the DOT4 hydraulic. Can you post a link? Do you know the code which I'll see in MES (when the leads come from Gendan)?

Agile is electromechanical not electro hydraulic as per the Comformatic. It doesn’t use hydraulic fluid for its actuation. Hope this makes sense?

I've tried to do a little more research, but can't see much! Is the ZF Agile gearbox/actuation/clutch only fitted to the 3 litre engines and the comfortmatic fitted to 2.3's etc? I'll have a look underneath mine tomorrow and look for a traditional clutch fork as the youtube video I watched had this on the Agile

This is a bit generic for you i dont have a comformamtic but know a man with a 130 2.3 which i belive is subtly different to the 3.0 in tank position and sizes at least. i f dunnah01 doesnt come up with the goods i will have a butchers at my mates instructions/notes.

Thank you. I'll look at this on my laptop...

The Agile gear selector system is fitted to Iveco Daily based vehicles whereas the Comfortmatic is fitted to the Ducato based vehicles. You really need to determine which vehicle you have. If it's an Iveco you'll need Maxi ECU to access the diagnostics for the gearbox. If it's a Ducato based you'll need MultiECUscan to access the diagnostics. The two gear selector systems are totally different with very little in common. I've gained some knowledge of the Ducato Comfortmatic fitted to both 2.3 and 3.0litre models but I've no experience of the Iveco Agile box I'm afraid.

Thank you for replying. What I know at the moment is that my Hymer is based on a Fiat Ducato. The 3 litre engine has the engine code of F1CE3481E which believe is an Iveco...hence the wondering!

I’d assumed that as this was an Iveco thread, you had an Iveco base vehicle.

Ignore all my comments today as they aren’t relevant and you will have a comformatic gearbox as it’s a Fiat chassis.
