Enjoying a lovely sunny holiday in Scotland, went over to mull for a couple of days, but was very disappointed in it. Very few free spaces and campsites not easy to find. Not much greenery about yet, but early. Roads awful. We went over and found a spot Friday night in the woods, drove round but came back early Saturday evening. Tobermory disappointing also. £13.50 for fish and chips on seafront. I wouldn't recommend Mull but others might love it. Its back to our favourite campsite, can't say where or everyone else will want come here. Sun out again.

I’ve only been once, decades ago, for my cousin’s wedding. It was magical. They lived in Ffionphort and were married in a small white chapel, piped in. The white sand beaches, fresh mussels in white wine, sunny days made it unforgettable. We never made it as far as Tobermory.

A memory we have from Mull was pre MH days... we booked a three night break in a hotel and went up in the car.

We were driving on the A849, a single track road, and pulled into a passing place to take a photograph of the valley below
.
A police car pulled up and the Officer, quite rightly, began lecturing me about stopping in a passing place, during which, I noticed the postie, driving towards us, in the valley below.

I quickly claimed that with my excellent forward observation skills, I thought I had noticed a red vehicle coming, and we were waiting for him to come up the hill and get past us.

We got the 'dont bullshit me' look and a few more words from the Officer and they drove away down the hill........ Only to have to reverse back up to the passing place to allow the postie to get past. :whistle2: :whew:

We have been in the MH a few years ago and enjoyed it but there wasn't a great choice of places to stay at that time. Fidden Farm was our favourite at £8. Just checked and it's now £24!! Stunning situation by the beach though(y)

Many many passing places but few you can pull off in for pics. Glad I am not the only one unimpressed with Mull. Sun and rain today. But had a fabulous week in the sun. Out every day. Singing sands great but many forests now cut down.

Went to Mull late April 2023 and loved it.

Campsites easy to find and the two we chose were excellent for many reasons:
Fidden Farm
Salen Bay

Stayed a week and circumnavigated the whole island.

Very scenic and saw at least three popular ‘ wild’ camping areas beside expanses of water (had we seen them sooner we would have used one of them as well)

Just depends on what appeals to the individual.
