We are in the process of upgrading our single leisure battery to 2 x Exide 80amp hr gel batteries. I have read lots of threads on the here but I have one question that I can’t find an answer to.
The batteries will be in parallel with positive connected on one battery and negative on the other. My question is how do I connect the solar panel charge wire. Do I just connect positive and negative to one battery or do I connect to the separate batteries.
Many thanks for your advice.

You say the load connections are to the positive on one battery and the negative on the other battery. Any other loads or chargers should be connected to the same two terminals.

The idea is that the voltage drops along the link wires are equalised if you wire by that method. I know the voltage drops are very small, but consistently different voltages throughout the lifetime of the batteries makes one work harder than the other, and will fail sooner.

Connected in parallel your controller will only see them as one bigger battery . Move either solar charger wire (+ or -) to the second battery terminal.

As you said it's now effectively 1 large battery. Treatit that way. Neg on one pos on tother

Pos on one and Neg on 2md battery. Doesn't make a huge difference when only two batteries but it is the advised method ...
