Does anyone have any advice on how big a van we need in order to put a scooter on the back. We are just researching vans at the moment but like the auto-trails. We really want to be able to put a scooter on to enable us to go into towns etc when we go across to France and Italy. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you, I will take a good link at this link, It’s a good place to start :)

If you need a scooter mounting legally then the Autotrail Frontier range is probably the best option because they are all built on the heavy chassis. The other range alternatives would be the Apache 700 or the Tracker LB and RB.

If you desperately want a scooter then make sure you avoid the entire Imala range; the Apache 632 and 634 and the rest of the Tracker range (all due to chassis issues and very poor payload).

I would do some research on Autotrail quality first and on the many other brands available before you part with your cash (y)

All the best,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, Yes it is very early days yet with the research, I guess I like the look of the Auto-trail. Do you think they are good quality vans or is there one that you would recommend?

I wouldn't have another Autotrail but there are others out there that love them. This forum is full of great folk with many differing opinions so It's all about preference but do your research first.;)

If I'm 100% honest with you then I think Autotrail should concentrate their efforts on building better quality vans as the quality of the product seems to have taken a downturn since 2005.

Why not check out the Autotrail vans first and then take a good look around at the other brands available to see what suits you guys. You can then post-up a few questions on the forum and the team will help you out with any advice required.

Ask as many question as you like as you'll be parting with a whole load of cash no matter which brand you opt for.

Best wishes,

Andrew

If you’re struggling with axel weight hanging a scooter on the back, what about a hydra lift or the French one. They have the shopping trolley type wheels on to take some of the weight.

Have a look at the weight of the scooters you like. Most motor homes are very close to their weight limit before you put anything in or on them - including people!!

From the "remorques" link:
"N est plus commercialisée", Which I take to mean "No longer sold"?
