Where we're staying tonight at Saint-Michel-chef-chef.

And a short walk away where we've been sitting in the sun.

One is costing us €11 and the other is free.

That first picture is what gives aires a bad name... regardless of cost.
Why? It's not somewhere I'd want to sit all day but then we never do sit all day even if it's a nice place. If it's basic parking but near a nice town with some decent restaurants it'd be a great place to stay after all your eyes are shut all night when you're asleep.

As you say.. It's Basic Parking, definitely not for me, looks like a dealer's yard.

I'd rather spend a bit of money for something a bit more luxurious when on holiday.

::bigsmile: Yes it does.

Theres some moneys worth ,i cant see any old models there .

Oh dear, basic parking will do me more often than not, £25 for a site with little or no facilities is, quite frankly, up my bottom!
Here’s a couple of the last weeks (on road as well:eek:) freebies!

Sounds a lovely place! Looking forward to catching up soon.

Lots of free parking by riverside although no overnighting along Marine Parade but plenty of grass along Clifftop.

Oi, watcha doing ere,

I sat and watched from my bedroom the Lady Mark Fisher tanker leave harbour this evening so you’re in town and welcome to knock on the door for a chat and cuppa, free parking out front.
A favourite walk of mine along the front and onto the pier.
That’s so kind of you, thanks, but need to do shopping and autogas tomorrow, I will be back though(y)

The dealers yard tour of Europe continues ::bigsmile:. Now reached the free parking at La Rochelle. Thanks to a post from misterB for this one.

At least there's a sign saying reserved for MH's too.

It's perfectly fine. It's somewhere to stay overnight and more than adequate for what it is. Most of these are near something like a nice town, short walk from a beach etc etc. Nothing wrong with these stopovers other than peoples attitude to it.

Dealers yard tour update. After a nice stop over at the vineyard at Blaye, we've moved onto the free camper parking at Saint Émilion. Got a decent space near the grassy area.

It's quite warm here and the 500w solar is more than keeping the lithium topped up whilst the AC is on. Now off for a large Cremant and Coq-au-vin Saint Émilion:wine:

Oops left out a deviation from the dealer yard tour. We ended up on the Ile de Re. A very nice place.

Broke the bank by getting a humongous pitch at a site in Les Portes de Re for €22 a night with full services.

Best part was Mrs daveclare's favourite animals were only over the fence away.

The dealers yard tour 'with grass' continues. We spent a very pleasant time at Domme. Stopped at the municipal aire just past the bridge. We could get used to this grass stuff between our toes.
IMG_20230525_173941889_HDR.jpg

We walked the steep route up to the stunning hilltop town.

That evening to replace the lost calories, we had decent meal at the Thai restaurant 100m from the aire. Great thing about Thai food is it tastes the same wherever you are in the world. Unlike very changeable Indian restaurants.

I thought that was a private Aire, the Thai restaurant is excellant.
Don't agree about Thai food it's quite diffent in Thailand.

::bigsmile:

I've had a Massaman across the world, including different areas in Thailand and they've all been near identical. Apart from the bowl!

My mistake I thought it was a town aire.
