That said you will notice my posh cadac next to my cheap ass cousins blue crappy thing???

Sorry to be pedantic but you’ve missed an “r”. Tongariro. There are some good Department of Conservation camps there. The Tongariro Crossing walk is very popular but claims lives occasionally. Usually those who don’t equip themselves for the changeable weather conditions.

and we did use many Department of Conservation camps , many with an honesty box for payment.
just fell in love with NZ , but we did have a brilliant weather system, got a little sun burnt at the glacier overlooking Mount Cook , in all it’s majesty against a clear blue sky.
All of 2 months in 2014. Brilliant trip, totally recommended for everybody’s bucket list .
