Was on a C&C holiday site this week at Ross on sea and had a trip into Llandudno on Wednesday and witnessed no parking traffic cones the full length of Maelgwyn rd. returned the next day (as sister was having a birthday bash there) and there are now single yellow lines the full length and both sides of Maelgwyn rd ready for the no motorhome parking between 11pm and 8 am. Not a place i would stop but seems some have upset the locals and giving the local rag some anti motorhome crap to write.

Oh stop with the fake indignation. There are places for motor homes to park all over North Wales and, well, the world. We call these Camping / Caravan / Motorhome parks.
But penny pinching greedy motor home drivers want to park for FREE! and park where they want. A basic motorhome costs about £40k new. So the owners CAN afford to park legally.
They are “self contained” until they are full. I have seen (in Porthcawl) public waste bins filled to overflowing by a single motor homer dumping all his accumulated waste in TWO public bins and left the overflow in plastic bags around them. (Including a nappy bag full of baby dung – the seagulls had a surprise then they tore that one open). So decent tourists were unable to use them (or indeed pass them without gagging)
I have seen anoth motor homer dumping what I will charitably refer to as “slurry” down a storm drain.
North Wales does not need the kind of “tourism” that illegally parked motorhomers bring

Not sure if there is any campsites in Llandudno. I don't think there is anywhere where you can pay to park overnight.

We never go there for that reason.

We were there last weekend, taxi driver said their was one 3-4miles away.

Dinarth Hall at Rhos-on-Sea has its own camping field in addition to the rally fields mentioned in the OP.
We stayed there at a C&CC THS a few years ago and will go back when we have time. There is a bus stop close by and weekly tickets are reasonably priced.
We have also stayed at a THS at Manorafan Farm,Abergele a couple of times. I understand that the field is now used for other purposes but there is a commercial site there. Again, it is on the same bus route and not a long ride into Llandudno.

Within a 10 mile radius of Llandudno there are over 25 campsites/pubstops according to searchforsites so no real excuse for having to park on the street. The new restrictions only come into force at 11pm so nothing to stop you visiting for the day.

What I was trying to say was that if Llandudno wants campers caravans and motorhomes there would be some facility there. Not 3 or 4 miles away as that's not Llandudno in my book. So if they don't want me I don't want them. It's not that I miss it, its a dull place anyway.

We will be visiting Wales in September for a week and intend staying at the Rhos on Sea THS, we will however buy a week long bus pass to make life easier.

It's ok for a few days, tram up the orme, wander along the prom, can't recommend the beach though, large pebbles for most of it. I think kids would be very disappointed.

Its a good site , bus stop at bottom of road Llandudno-Rhyl every 15 minutes Conway bus also at same stop, Angel bay/Seal point worth a trip and seals should be there in Sept (they weren't this week) easy walk down to the prom at Rhos and then a nice walk all the way to Colwyn Bay .

Only one i know of in Llandudno (rest are out of town and not very accessible if walking) its the owl sanctuary and a working farm at the south end of the prom. Listed as £10 to stay in car park but heard different prices quoted.

Should have mentioned that we stayed on the site two years ago but thanks for the information anyway.

There is an overnight pay and display though smack in the centre near west shore

Yeah and the pebble beaches were man made to help with tidal floods. There is talk they are being removed in another year as the walls have been raised etc.
Local hoteliers say they hinder sales.
I stop at a few places round dudno and north Wales in general...some wild some not..

Whoever saw this happen must have some sort of fetish, watching bin dumpers and drain droppers all over Llandudno..... Of course no one in a car on a days outing has ever deposited a nappy in a public waste bin or any resident of Llandudno has ever used a public waste bin to deposit nappy waste and has taken it shopping with them until they got home... and to be able to identify an actual storm drain is good technical knowledge, so they must be very educated in such things ...

That seems to me like saying the likes of Abbey Wood and Lee Valley sites aren't London :giggle: When we have stayed at Rhos/Abergele we have travelled to many places between Rhyl and Anglesey by bus.
As for "dull" we obviosuly have different perceptions :giggle:

odd that although they claim to have seen with their own eyes no one has any evidence, most people have a phone with a camera and could even make a note of motorhomers reg number and report dumping but I have never heard of anyone being prosecuted and I have never seen anyone wild camping dumping stuff

In my defence I was just stating a fact. Something that is 5 miles from Llandudno is not actually in llandudno. :giggle:

As for is is dull or not, that's a subjective view of course. It's not an offensive place but it holds a very average appeal to me.

Sadly Im afraid its probably the same old story "Rotten Apples" etc
"Tarred with the same brush"
We recently visted Llandudno and Rhos on sea as one of our regular day out spots to find these new signs everywhere even along the parking bays where no residential are any where near on the beach road, I fully understand in the town centre however.
Sad that as usual the selfish few can spoil it for the rest!

I wonder if it will dawn on the good burghers of these towns and will they change their policy when they realise the market that they are turning away?

When we visit a town and stay, we generally have a few drinks, a meal, top up with fuel, buy food etc.

Places like llandudno like coach trips of little old ladies who all share one pot of tea in the cafe, then get back on the coach.

Agree 100% Especially in low season so may the council should have thought about that?
They have seasonal restrictions for dogs on the beach so why not Motorhome parking?

at least they have allowed it to start at a sensible time thanet council have made theres from 6 at night which means you cant even have a sensible day at the beach in summer

That is for parking only though. As it says on the council web site "Overnight camping is prohibited at all our car parks.".
Right , I was on the understanding there are 2 for Motorhomes that can stop overnight max 2 nights imilar to Littell Roodee at Chester...., there at Maelgwyn Road and one over at Morfa conwy.
Then the rest of car parks wihtout motorhome bays were prohibited, I see now.
Could have sworn it was ok a few months back.

As far as I know the only motorhome "concession" has ever been that those two car parks have larger bays.

Could you tell me which club with please.

Ok I’m sick of this, the OP posted from a local paper website in good faith, and once again, foolishly, I tried to look at the article. It crashed my Ipad, then it froze and wouldn’t let me go back to MHF, now the local paper site is trying to get me to subscribe! OP and others who insist on posting from a local paper website, do us all a favour next time, and don’t bother!!!

Grr!!
